Why are they brave? They provoked the bulls and lost. I'm sorry for their families but it's survival of the fittest. They obviously weren't.

I have been to Pamplona and several other cities in northern Spain where this activity, of bull-running takes place.

Frankly, it is utter insanity for foreigners, who have probably been drinking too much, to take part in this madness.

The streets are narrow, filled to capacity, and the bulls have been whipped into a frenzy for their later fate in the bullring.

Brave? More like moronic. Out dated, cruel and barbaric. This sort of thing needs to be stopped. If I am right and I may be wrong, but this was started as running the bulls to the bull ring for the bulll fights. Which is not a fight it’s a glorified slaughter of the most cruel kind.

Sticking short spears into a bulls neck so it can no longer raise its head. Then the final blow after an hour or so of torture a guy kills it with a sword.

I’m no vegan or vegetarian and have worked in slaughter houses where if I saw any kind of animal abuse it was reported.

We live in the 21st century this kind of thing should have gone the way of bear baiting, dog fighting and all the other cruel so called sports. As let’s be honest it’s not a sport as sport means even matched contest.

Sorry for the soapbox rant but this kind of comment gets me so angry. I have deleted all the swear word that came out as I do not want to offend.

Reminds me of my holiday in Valencia a few years back. Went to a little restaurant just a street away from the bull ring.

Went a few times and then one night they offered me an off-menu special. Out it came and it was two large meatballs, absolutely delicious. Went the next night and offered the same thing. Realised I'd been eating bulls testicles but they were so tasty.

The third night they gave me the special but it was a much smaller dish. More of a starter. Anyway, I devoured them in double quick time.

Asked the waiter why they were much smaller this time and he said "Well the bullfighter doesn't always win"

How on earth is the bull run barbaric may I ask? There’s a lot of BS been spoken on this forum about spikes and spears put into the bulls.

If you don’t actually know what goes on, don’t make BS comments.

Bulls get let out and run FREELY down the streets.

It is not a bull fight which I think your confusing it with!

As someone has said, some of the bulls (not all) are slaughtered humanly and distributed amongst the poor.

Why on earth do cultural events like this have to be judged by complete idiots that have no idea about the event.

Who gives a toss, it was their choice to prove their big egos and they bit off more than they could chew. You ask any farmer if they trust any 'docile' bull 100%.......... No, we should.

We should all stand up for things that we feel are wrong, otherwise nothing will ever change or improve.

I'm sad for their families but I find it hard to sympathise with them since it was self inflicted. D*unk tourists with no awareness are also a self inflicted choice if this is a factor.

Bull running & bull fighting are barbaric practices that need to end or be altered to be symbolic celebrations than literal ones (not involving live animals). Also, not quite running *freely* if mistreated during preparation & coralled into a specific part of the place with lots of people, plus hardly a 'humane' death for the bull, after such prior torment.

But how can the human race move forward as a species without progression, it's not imposing our views, it's about making our global society a safe place for everyone.

So in your view practice's like FGM should go unchallenged because of it being a cultural difference elsewhere right? Child labour, underage marriages and oppression should all remain unchallenged

As for the OP, good, deserved everything they got.

There's nothing humane about causing animals fear and anxiety for people's entertainment before they get slaughtered. Would you like to run down streets surrounded by a baying crowd for fun? And to just pass it off as a cultural difference is bullshit. R*pe, sl*very, p**dophilia and FGM are perfectly normal in some cultures. And I think they're all sick. Animal cruelty is animal cruelty. I saw some of this in person in Spain before , very strange hobby for men to have I found in this day and age ...

Well its expected now an d then the animals actually win vs humans ,, unlucky for the 3 guys but they knew the risks going in that death is possible for them ..

I am sure they and their families accepted the risk and it will prob be classed as some weird noble death for them ... in reality its just a pointless waste of life and abuse of animals .

though some other idiots will more than happily be jumping into their places next month no doubt .

meanwhile in britain cider drinkers routinely hurl themselves off near verticle inclines in the pursuit of a cheese and yet more cider drinkers run around town with balzing barrels of tar balanced on their neck.

The bills run from the holding pen...to the central square..and ate then rounded up and corralled into the Ring..Shere they are then used as entertainment in their "fight" against the matador.

And ots true that sometime the matador gets punctured. But that doesn't alow the bull to win and go free. Simply killed by someone else.

Brave souls? Idiots who got what they deserved. Disgraceful type of event which should have been banned years ago. Never mind all the crap about it is tradition. It's cruel. The bull does what any animal does when it is frightened to death, it fights back. Well done to the bull

There are some very sick Trolls on here!!! What the fuck is wrong with you, that you wish violent and painful death on people who do something you disagree with?

The Men who who died had names and families. They leave behind, wives, children and grandkids.

Would look into their eyes and tell them that their grandfather deserved a brutal and painful death? No? Then shut the fuck up and think before you type your cowardly bullshit!

Yes I agree that the bullfighting should end and that running with the bulls is idiotic. But I take no pleasure at the tragic loss of life and outright condem anyone who does!!!

I would tell them the truth that (insert relative ) died for being stupid and could have totally been avoided if not for their selfish behaviour .. cause and effect is in play.

The Emotional card trick doesn't really work with many people .. I have had a relative die from a stupid hobby , yes it was sad they died but it didn't change the reality they were the cause of it and it was selfish behaviour to put themselves into that position to start with ...

Equally many humans are very strongly for animals and well what sort of message is that to kids / families if you happily take pleasure in killing an animal that is goaded into acts of violence .all in name of some sport ... one could say dont really posses much humanity to start with for that blasé level of wanton destruction in name of entertainment, as its not a sport so we cant use that term .

Maybe they should have thought about their families beforehand. This isn’t the first time people have died taking part and it’s always well publicised. It’s those taking part that owed something to their wives and children but clearly taking part in this abhorrent activity was more important.

Desensitised to the way people believe they would act in a real life scenario, that is the power of the internet and a keyboard.

I do not support bull fighting or cruelty to animals or humans, I understand it is an emotive and cruel ritual, however these messages celebrating the deaths of 3 humans is awful.

Aah yes, the one where they drown the goat in a local fountain if it survives.

Sorry, I confused that with the Pero Palo festival in Villanueva de la Vera, where a donkey is dragged through the streets as locals chant and attack the animal with fireworks, cowbells and sharp objects.

Still, at least the don't garrotte them like they do to dogs before hanging them from trees.

Spain is such a lovely country - such lovely traditions.

I doubt you would tell their relatives this at all, unless you are totally devoid of emotional awareness, which I admit is possible.

The internet really does desensitise people to reality, whilst at the keyboard.

Some of us are not emotionally compromised at all and function with logical thought processes devoid of emotive distraction 24/7 . why do we have to pussyfoot around a truth about why someone died. trying to kill animals for no reason whatsoever of any value .. never said it wasn't sad that someone has died but I did say the truth is the truth .

Telling a relative a truth in this case of a bull death which was 100% avoidable , why would you not want to know the factual truth of death, they will learn of it at some point .. that is an illogical thought process to me anyway .

Easy to say this on here but in front of a grieving relative, I think you would find things a little more taxing on your none emotive update. "

Believe me or not, makes no difference to me. Act like a cunt, get the bulls horn. Simples.

Would look into their eyes and tell them that their grandfather deserved a brutal and painful death? No? Then shut the fuck up and think before you type your cowardly bullshit!

Sick trolls? Honestly couldn't give two fucks. Why would I be in a position to look their families in the eyes? Even if for some bizarre reason I was I'd not change my position. I don't go looking for it but I'm not afraid of conflict and will stand my ground when I believe in something. Even if it means someone hearing some hard truths.

Lack of empathy? No, you have that wrong. I have empathy for the innocent animals and zero for those who take pleasure in torturing them. Anyone inflicting pain on any other (non-consenting ) living being is sick and doesn't deserve my empathy.

I feel sorry for their families. Seems such an unnecessary waste of life in the support of animal cruelty.

If the festival had no live animals, they would not be dead. There are many festivals with floats, statues, symbolic options that could be incorporated to continue tradition & raise money that the festival no doubt does, without risk of injury or animal cruelty.

I think being indifferent to their death, acknowledging that they were partaking in something sick and not having sympathy which seems to be the common stance on the thred is vastly different to wishing people dead
