On here no. When someone puts on their CV "excellent attention to detail" and I'm constantly seeing errors they let go out to clients, then it becomes an irritant.

It's all in the context. In an appropriate arena, such as a formal letter, information material and such, I expect a high level of correctness. It isn't necessary for quotidian casual ramblings.

Dyslexia is quite common, I wouldn’t get irritated over someone’s spelling. Life is way too short for that.

I sometimes get a bit twitchy about spelling but as long as I can understand what's written its good. I said on a similar thread recently that two of my brothers are dyslexic, one extremely so. Because of that I have a certain amount of sympathy.

I think we should remember that there are people from all walks of life here and many nationalities.

Having said that please also remember 'are' and 'our' are not interchangeable

Not what I meant, I meant when you care about your education and the grammar and spelling you have learned it is natural to get annoyed when you see something misspelled. It is no comment whatsoever on anyone who misspells something for any reason!

They often are not.

It doesn't bother me, not enough to complain or act mightier than thou.

Although, text speak and buzz words, such as Karen, Snowflake and the likes, well they can really cause my eyes to roll.

I'm dyslexic and partially deaf. I was disruptive in school so had to attend an educational unit. I left school with one GCSE in visual education. As a young adult I went back into education and got a "B" in English as well as a handful of other arty ones. Got an "A" in my A level textiles which I did in 6 months. When I had my daughter I took ESOL classes to try and get my head around basic grammar. My head retains such pointless information yet certain things will not stick. Maths is a prime example of that. I actually get physical pains if I'm forced to do anything other than very basic maths.

I now work in education with very young kids that have special educational needs. I see how some people struggle learning on a daily basis.

Posts like this do piss me off. Especially when most of the people that are "the grammar police" are obviously on the Autistic spectrum. I understand it might be difficult for you to empathise with others but you don't have to put them down or ridicule them.

The rest are just smug cunts who despite banging on about "The forums are a community" do love their self elevated status.

I've had so many threads fucked up because people find it more entertaining to pick out typos and bad grammar.

Depends on the context, appropriate with speed, missing words, incorrect spelling and poor grammar can happen with speed (we are just as guilty of this at times). But when it's an introduction message and you get something like "free saterday" or "fuk u rite ard" we question the level of intelligent conversation we would have.

I'm Dyslexic and find it very hard. I do use all the tools available to help me, like Google and spell check.

but it pisses me off, when people get all high and mighty about ones spelling and grammar. FFS we are on an adult sex site, not trying to impress you with literature!

I find it a lot more annoying when people feel the need to point out others spelling mistakes on here, especially when it's done as a put down to that person. It's not big or clever it just makes you look sad and pretty pathetic.

I saw a man post on the forums quite a while ago asking for help, he struggled with writing down what he was trying to ask. A lot jumped straight on the band wagon with the smart comments about how he spelt words wrong and how he couldn't articulate what he wanted to say.All of these people thought they were funny and witty and were 'educating' this guy when in fact they were just being cockwombles. Funnily enough a lot of them post on the be kind threads as well .

So no someone's spelling doesn't bother me as I understand people can have issues like dsylexia or English is not their first language .It does not mean they are uneducated like some on this thread has even suggested. Some people I know who may not be able to write things down well on paper are some of the most intelligent people I have known.

"I'm dyslexic and partially deaf. I was disruptive in school so had to attend an educational unit. I left school with one GCSE in visual education. As a young adult I went back into education and got a "B" in English as well as a handful of other arty ones. Got an "A" in my A level textiles which I did in 6 months. When I had my daughter I took ESOL classes to try and get my head around basic grammar. My head retains such pointless information yet certain things will not stick. Maths is a prime example of that. I actually get physical pains if I'm forced to do anything other than very basic maths.

I now work in education with very young kids that have special educational needs. I see how some people struggle learning on a daily basis.

Posts like this do piss me off. Especially when most of the people that are "the grammar police" are obviously on the Autistic spectrum. I understand it might be difficult for you to empathise with others but you don't have to put them down or ridicule them.

The rest are just smug cunts who despite banging on about "The forums are a community" do love their self elevated status.

I've had so many threads fucked up because people find it more entertaining to pick out typos and bad grammar.

I often read regarding other disrespectful issues, that it's 2022, like that means this kind of attitude should now be eradicated.

You'd think by now, people would recognise that it can be a learning difficulty or due to a bad upbringing, as examples.

I remember as a child, my Gran asking me to take a written note to my Uncle, she asked me to say nothing to suggest I know, and explained be struggles to read and so will I please read it to him.

I did that and to this day he doesn't know.

He is though, an an amazing builder, amongst other things, and a very caring, understanding Man.

Personally, I find a bad attitude much more a turn off than bad grammar.

Though yes, there's another possibility, English being their second or even third language.

I agree. We had a high number of dyslexic people in my Physics A Level class. My ex partner was also almost intimidatingly intelligent and ended up becoming a software programmer for banks but he was quite severely dyslexic. I'm mildly dyslexic and often have to Google words as I'm typing. I can totally understand why those who have it more severe don't bother as it would take forever to type anything.

To those who say "autocorrect exists" I'm sure we all know how imperfect that is. It also doesn't pick up grammatical errors and sometimes you spell something so badly that autocorrect draws a blank. Also if you spell something wrong enough times, sometimes your phone adds it to the suggestions .

You don't say "I of..." anything. You say "I have..." whatever. Therefore you say:

I still struggle with words with loads of vowels in and often have no idea what order they go in. I can get confused over whether a word begins with E or I. I don’t see where he says he was smarter than anyone either.

I hate poor spelling and bad grammar, but I also realise that people are doing this mostly on their phones, where the keyboard is quite small.

It's easy to get frustrated with the slowness of typing, so I accept that people might want to abbreviate things (and that mistakes get made). As long as people are typing proper sentences (one guy's opening message to me was: "Meet") I let a few mistakes pass.

This is a swingers site we are not sitting an English exam, life’s too short to let things like that stress you out

It's annoying though when you're trying to work out what people are asking.

Unreformed or repentant dyslexic here. If I were to lose my shit over everytime I spot a selling/grammar gaff I'd be constantly cross with my self. Especially when I spot it post proofreading and sending the message.

I'm dyslexic and struggle often with spelling, grammar and getting my words around the wrong way or adding/missing out words.

I also am embarrassed about it as had many years of people taking the piss out of me.

You're so right. I'm just lazy. I only continued my education so I could keep playing the dyslexia card. I'm only on the forums because I couldn't keep being a student forever and horny strangers are the closest substitute I could find to examiners.

We have a long profile we use as a filter and we use all the filters provided by the FAB team to help worm out time wasters, Picture collector’s and all the “armchair plum-pullers” and “ego-builders”. But, we never frown upon poor spelling and/or punctuation. We don’t judge people on their level of intelligence or education. Dyslexia is a real condition too.

No one can truly judge a person through written words and how their words are written, especially here, on a swingers website where ego’s and someone’s physique tend to take precedence over honesty and real life.

A face to face meet in the flesh and a good old chat is the best way to make your own judgement call on someone
