Mine was Bob Dylan at the SECC. Couldn't make out a word of what he was singing. Gutted.

I've seen Dylan 4 times. One time at Glastonbury he played all his hits and sang like the record. The other 3 he mumbled and strummed and none of us had a clue what 'songs' he played.

The Velvet Underground at Glastonbury 1994. Everyone excited to see the original line up. But a few notes in it was clear Lou Reed had decided he didn't want to do it and it was a hopeless mess. Wasted opportunity.

Legendary DJ John Peel even walked past us as the set ended: "Well that was shit wasn't it lads?" he shook his head dejectedly.

The Prodigy. Everyone said come see this dance band who rock harder than most rock/metal bands.

All I saw was a 70's prog rock throwback with huge banks of synths Jean Michel Jarre style with a couple of court jesters prancing around the stage.

PS - For clarity I think Fat Of The Land is a classic. But live? Nope.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Hampden Park. One of my favourite bands and I'd heard seeing them live was an experience.

Instead I got a lot of improvised jams and a lot of their biggest hits left off the set list.

Biffy Clyro were the support act and completely out classed them.

Metallica at Sheffield Arena in 2009. I'd never seen them and was very excited but they played in the middle with just seats all round them and the sound was awful. Like a muffled cement mixer. It was a soul less, joy less disappointment.

Whitesnake in 1987 at Wembley Arena. They must have been on for about 1 hour 20 mins. Hardly any "classic" songs and going-through-the-motions performance. Sound was bad also. Their 1995 show however was much better which was last time I saw them.

Conversely, I saw Paul Weller supporting the Who at Hyde park and he was on top form. I guess you had him on one of his off days.

Ride are the only band I've ever left and gone and sat in a bar, so dull.

I've seen some truly awful support bands and some shit bands at festivals over the years but of the 100s of gigs I've seen other than that one non really stand out

The Hold Steady at the Roundhouse, just 'meh' and left halfway through.

Bob Dylan at the Hop Farm Festival few years ago, his band rattled through his greatest hits whilst a dog barked in the background. Left after ten minutes and went to watch the Hypn0tic Brass Ensemble, much much better!

Not a single gig, but Red Hot Chilli Peppers when they headlined Reading festival in 94 were absolutely awful.

Completely disjointed, disinterested and incoherent.

Whether it was due to intoxication or just not actually giving a shit I don’t know, but I’ve heard from friends who’ve seen them more recently who have had similar experiences

Genesis at Ingliston, 1982. The Hall was like an aircraft hanger, and the soundproofing was non-existant. You heard every note twice, as it reached you, and then bounced off the back wall. Worst sound ever, and not even the good Genesis.

Whitesnake during their "1987" album tour. One of my favourite albums and David Coverdale has one of the best voices out there but he was terrible. They cancelled the gig a week earlier due to him loosing his voice and clearly tried to fit the gig in before he had recovered!!

A work colleague went to see Diana Ross at the Riverside, there was no support she came on at 9, wore leggings and manky shacket, her words not mine.

She was on less than an hour and abrubtly left with no encore

Toss up between chilli peppers at the O2 with Anthony Kedis unhappy, not talking and singing in bits. There was jamming, my god! the jamming. Bass solos, drum solos even a fucking trumpet.

Metallica at Twickenham. 30 minutes of Jamming. Hetfield telling us we were the greatest fans ever. At £100 per person, your welcome!

When I have a wank, I prefer to do it in private and not make anyone pay £100 for it.

My first gig was New Order in Southampton 1983. Awful support band who got bottled. New Order wandered on stage way past midnight and rambled through an out of tune set. Total rubbish.

Also I was at Spike Island to see the Stone Roses who I thought were great. The rest of the day though was fucking awful.

I used to get a lot of free tickets for gigs back in the day, so I wouldn't bother staying if they bored the y-fronts off me. I walked out of an Aztec Camera gig, The Proclaimers and Soft Cell. Surprisingly, one of the most entertaining acts I ever saw was Shakatak.

That rings a vague bell, but I don't really remember. They had a guest bass player who had a remote radio pick up on his guitar (new tech in those days!) and he walked round the audience playing slap bass. It was very cool.

99% of Bob Dylan 'performances' should be referred to Trading Standards. It is theft of people's money. It is stealing. Nothing more. He deliberately takes people's money and supplies them a below par sub-standard product. Don't give me any bollocks about him sticking it to the man and all that. It is vile, disgusting theft.

Status Quo did a record breaking day few gigs in one day was at the last one in Wembley they were late and their voices had gone only on stage for short while

Saw them at the UEA in Norwich, best live sound ever. Then a couple of years later at Latitude, bang average.

Worst for me was Kings of Leon at Hyde Park, during their sober phase. So so dull, no interaction at all.
