"Mine was Bob Dylan at the SECC. Couldn't make out a word of what he was singing. Gutted. I've seen Dylan 4 times. One time at Glastonbury he played all his hits and sang like the record. The other 3 he mumbled and strummed and none of us had a clue what 'songs' he played. " My experience exactly.

"Paul Weller at the roundhouse. Not sure he could have put any less effort in while still managing to breathe. No rapport with audience at all. Not sure if it was just a bad day at the office or that's the way he does things now. Never see your hero's live.... Or something like that. " I felt exactly this about Roland Gift of the fine young cannibals. Conversely, I saw Paul Weller supporting the Who at Hyde park and he was on top form. I guess you had him on one of his off days.

"Mine was Bob Dylan at the SECC. Couldn't make out a word of what he was singing. Gutted. " I seen him "play" in 1995 at the Phoenix festival and I honestly thought how is he classed as a legend, he was so inaudible, mumbling words and to be Frank so boring x

"The overwhelming feeling of this thread are that Red Hot Chilli Peppers are absolutely shite live." I begrudgingly admire a band selling out stadiums on the back of one 30 year old fairly mediocre album with a reputation for being crap live that is well established!

"Meat Loaf the year he retired. He tried really hard but his voice just wasn’t up to it any more " Saw him that year, one of his last concerts and he seemed unwell. The next day he cancelled the remaining shows I believe. We still loved him on stage though.

"The overwhelming feeling of this thread are that Red Hot Chilli Peppers are absolutely shite live." I’ve not heard from anyone I know who has seen them, who would pay money to see them again. Only band I’ve experienced live that were worse was Primus, sounded like someone throwing instruments down a flight of stairs, but they were a support act and the main band were brilliant

"Worst experience for me wasn't the line up but the venue. Wembley, we ended up at the back and could hardly hear or see a thing. I'll not visit Wembley again. ![]() It's an awful venue, I much prefer the O2. Thar said I never pay for the O2 and not sure I'd rate that at their ticket prices either!

"Simply Red at Wembley in 1992, dull line up,Brand New Heavies were supporting. Boring and rained most of the day. Didn't enjoy it at all, couldn't wait to get out." I was there.. And it was dull. But I've been to worse.

"Genesis at Ingliston, 1982. The Hall was like an aircraft hanger, and the soundproofing was non-existant. You heard every note twice, as it reached you, and then bounced off the back wall. Worst sound ever, and not even the good Genesis." To those that got the sound/venue combination so wrong..."just as I thought, it was goin' alright I found out I'm wrong, when I thought I was right It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all2 Apt lyrics anyone?

"I used to get a lot of free tickets for gigs back in the day, so I wouldn't bother staying if they bored the y-fronts off me. I walked out of an Aztec Camera gig, The Proclaimers and Soft Cell. Surprisingly, one of the most entertaining acts I ever saw was Shakatak." Wasn't he the moon walk dude?

They had a guest bass player who had a remote radio pick up on his guitar (new tech in those days!) and he walked round the audience playing slap bass. It was very cool.

It is stealing. Nothing more. He deliberately takes people's money and supplies them a below par sub-standard product. Don't give me any bollocks about him sticking it to the man and all that. It is vile, disgusting theft.

"The Manic Street Preachers at Exeter Westpoint. Was like they couldn’t play their songs fast enough and get out of there" Saw them at the UEA in Norwich, best live sound ever. Then a couple of years later at Latitude, bang average. Worst for me was Kings of Leon at Hyde Park, during their sober phase. So so dull, no interaction at all.
