"Anybody going to watch the Commonwealth 2022 bike road race in Warwick on Sunday?" I'm tempted as it's my old training roads but also tempted to head in to London (which is much more practical) and cheer people on at London Triathlon.

"Anybody out cycling on Saturday? I think I will be, around Hertfordshire" Probably try and do 50 miles, probably out towards Dunstable and back, we are lucky on Hertfordshire as for some reason most of London still thinks Surrey is the place to head!

"I went to Warwick yesterday to watch the Commonwealth 2022 bike road race. Great day out and wonderful atmosphere " I watched it on TV and it was a really exciting race despite the flat course, felt sorry for Cav, as soon as Caleb Ewan pulled out it was obvious no other team would want a bunch finish. Loved the Ghanaian corner!

"Hi all, there used to be a thread about cycling, which kind came to an end, so I am trying to give it a new elixir of life. So, any cycling swingers out there come and say hi and maybe, if we are not too far away from each other, we could organise a ride one day ![]() ![]() Great to see the thread resurrected. We only did a 40 mile cafe ride on Saturday but that was because we both did a half marathon yesterday. Looking to get out on Thursday for a long ride.

"Sat in the bath with radox muscle therapy after 87 miles today in Lancashire and doing 71 miles of Wales Ironman course on Saturday. Can't say I'm looking forward to the 112 miles of Ironman in 2 weeks time. The two circuits of the north loop are just mental with crazy climbs followed by descent's one after the other for around 80 miles of the course. " Good luck!

"For the first time in decades, I’m back on a bike again. Recently bought a hybrid through ‘cycle to work scheme’, commuting at l_ast twice a week. It’s only about 2 miles each way, but there’s a 7% incline for about 300 yards, carrying 2 panniers with stuff. I’m hoping to get up to 4 times a week and join a local cycling club. I’m noticing that I’m becoming quicker and faster each time I commute and energised for the day ahead. Although I’m no longer a night owl and in bed by 9! ![]() I shaved off a minute in my total journey this week. Staying in 3rd gear for much longer before dropping to 2nd going up the hill and feeling only a mild burn in my quads. ![]()

Just concentrating on the bike, it was treacherous on the descents once the heavy rain started. Probably the toughest day in the saddle I've experienced. Just come back from Barcelona Ironman 70.3 where it was polar opposite..... beautiful sunny day and flattish course.

"I’m considering TrainerRoad - just had a power meter fitted but do 99% of my miles on the road all year round. Is it any good and does it make a difference?" I only use it when the weather is foul. And yes, I think it’s good - it has hundreds of different workouts to choose from at different effort levels and length of workout. In terms of it making a difference, in the winter possibly yes, but only if you use it regularly and set up a training programme. Try it and see what you think.

I would recommend a cadence monitor, though, since specific cadence ranges are suggested by the various workouts.

"Managed a combined 100+ miles each weekend for the last 2 weeks but been lucky with the weather. Have friends up from London this weekend so no riding. Did the first Zwift session on the turbo last night. Anyone used FullGaz ? We picked up a trial period at Ironman Wales which we've not installed yet but wondered if anyone has any experience of it as a platform." I just stick to Zwift. I've been on it for about 2 years now, so I don't wanna start again on a new app. Though saying that, Zwift is insanely temperamental and frequently decides not to work for whatever reason.

"Any recommendations for winter cycling clothing? Currently trying to find that perfect set of cycling gloves that keep you warm and dry." I guess it depends on you, I have some Decathlon fleece ones which are too hot for me, I mainly wear Galiber cyclocross gloves as my hands get too hot...I've been out in the winter and had to take gloves off and ride bare hands and 2-5c.. Club members I ride with use all different ones all lined, one has the "lobster" types....

"London female cyclist here. Gonna be a fresh ride this morning How was the ride? I’ll be on the bike tomorrow morning. (Nice to know there’s at l_ast one female Londoner cyclist on here - shame I’m out of her age range…)" It was nippy and had lost all feeling in my fingers and toes by the end of my journeys but lovely out!
