"Not wiping down equipment after using it.... Not putting weights away... Throwing weights down after using them as if youre some hard man..." Saw a huge steroid monster doing incline press with heavy dumbbells. He let them hit the floor. One bounced back and smashed his phone. Also hate: Taking one of each pair of dumbbells for drop sets. Setting up multiple stations Not wiping down Screaming Sitting on a bench/machine scrolling SM (longest I have seen was 26 minutes) Not grouping weight correctly when re-racking them. Filming other people Slamming weights down. Having a mother's meeting around a piece of piece of equipment. Bugging others. Trying to jump on equipment when you have just gone for a water refill especially if you have left your bag/towel on it.

"I’m lucky in that i choose to train at 5:30-6:00am when the place is empty. When I used the gym in the evenings, the posing peacocks and preening princesses pissed me off. Taking up space in the few squat racks to take 1075628 selfies. My other big bugbear is that space is premium at the gym I use, and I get seriously wound up at the people who stand/sit chatting socially while not using equipment. Just get in, train, leave. Want a social get together, go to the f’kin coffee shop!" All of this. And also, people who don't put their plates/weights away after use. Purely anecdotal, but in my gym it's usually the women and the runts who don't tidy their shit up.

"I own a set of gyms and had to post up a code of etiquette, including no phones in the gym area, lost a few members because of it... Vanity..... hate it!!!" I use my phone for a few things though. I use an app to track my sets and reps. I also video myself on deadlifts and squats from the side to ensure I'm not rounding my back and getting my thighs parallel to ground on my squat. Not everyone videoing themselves are doing it for the 'Gram

"People who hog the dumbbells, they run the rack but keep all the dumbbells around them. One person keeping 6 sets of dumbbells around them. People who drop the dumbbells/bar after their final rep. If you can't place it gently on the ground, you're not strong enough for that weight. The funny excuses you get when you ask them about dropping the weight "it gets me psyched up for the next rep" "that's what they do in the strong man competitions" Re-racking dumbbells in the wrong order!" Not forgetting the dicks who take 1 dumbbell out of each of 6 sets to a station. People who get in the way if others because they are looking for the best lighting for their gym selfie. PTs/gym staff who stand around when there are beginners with no idea what they are doing and have shit technique. Arseholes who just randomly rerack plates in weird order rather than in the correct place.

This maybe used to be a thing, but now everyone is more conscious of wiping everything down before others use kit. Also depends if you need to strip/add weights to the bar.

Our gym has different pegs for the various plates but where varied weights need to go on one peg, it's biggest on first. People who only use lighter plates shouldn't have to try and shift massively heavy ones out of the way but those who use heavier can easily move the lighter ones.

"Christ I've been thinking of joining a gym but was worried about literally every point raised on here but had told myself I was overthinking....seems not." If a fat woman in a wheelchair can use a gym unhindered by anyone else, I reckon you'll have a good chance. Give it a go?

"I can ignore most things in the gym but not the madness that is the dumbbell rack. Why is there a 2.5 beside the 45? We'll never know" We do know, we just don't like the answer

True but my patience is wafer thin these days and I think I'd last 5 mins before launching some posers phone across the gym if I accidentally ruined thier shot.

Only stimulated to laugh and trying to do it quietly..... I'm more bothered by the fecking super setters who take up 4 sets of equipment

"Wife goes gym twice a week she always gets chatted up" This happens to me a lot and they guys think 'I don't see you often' is a suitable chat up line Either that or they're trying to embarrass me I wouldn't be so fat if I was here often

"Not wiping down equipment after using it.... Not putting weights away... Throwing weights down after using them as if youre some hard man... Saw a huge steroid monster doing incline press with heavy dumbbells. Trying to jump on equipment when you have just gone for a water refill especially if you have left your bag/towel on it." I knew there was a reason I hate going to the gym Lol! best thing though is that I know how to avoid the overused things but using the under-used things so that works for me. I go to the leisure centre because I like the pool and sauna and classes. They provide wipes so even if someone sweaty had been on before me I can wipe it down. I always shower after gym anyway. It's not the cleanest of places even with Covid.

" People smirking or sniggering when they see a larger person in there giving it a go. We all started somewhere " this would be a ban in my gym

"The new “film everything you do” trend No one wants to see you do a bicep curl on your insta 3 times a week And I don’t like having to try to dodge your camera in the gym this" See Joey swol days you don't have to dodge cameras in commercial gyms so if he says it's ok to walk in shot then it ok Unless of course the issue is you don't want to be on the video or pic

They're not supportive for the gym anyway, they're designed for running. I know people who use Vans-type skate shoes, although weight lifting shoes aren't that expensive? You can get Adidas ones on Amazon for £30.
