Location "Near You"

I find it strange that people on this site put locations like "near you" or "close by" in their profile. There's a slight chance they might be right, but usually they'll end up being in Land's End or the Scottish Highlands, which isn't close to me by anyone's definition.

It's not a rant or even a criticism, I'm just curious as to why people don't just put their location.

I completely respect if people want to be discreet or just be online, but your location is in your profile. You can put "In Orbit" in your profile and it will still say you're in the Midlands or South West or suchlike.

We all know there are crazy fuckers on here that don’t know boundaries. Why put yourself at risk by stating your exact location. I’m in south London. If someone is interested, I’ll be more specific when messaging if they actually want to meet.
