WTF? And why would you post the footage online as well? I know footballers sometimes aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer but this is a special kind of stupid.

Just seen animal cruelty can be up to 5 years potentially.

For those who don't know, he's kicked his cat around his house while a kid watched and laughed, and a friend filmed it. Then uploaded it somewhere.

What a total bellend. And as usually happens with ‘celebrity’, he’ll come up with some inducing apology, claim he’s learning to be better (until he’s caught doing something cockwomble-ish again), and he’ll get a slap on the wrist.

I despair sometimes.

I beg to differ. If anything, it may be a fine or an alternative (community service perhaps?). It's not only the 'rich' who can pay a fine instead.

I have no idea who this footballing prat is but he didn't learn his behaviour by growing up rich, did he?

Apparently he got fouled and was writhing in the usual fake agony and the Watford fans were shouting,

"Rich people don't get punished, they get fined. Anyone who harms any animal is a first class cunt."

Not sure that it’s true about just getting fined, depends on the severity of what someone has done. In some cases, offences are career ending.

It was a giant error for him to play last night, and he was booed by both sets of supporters. Will that die away in the coming weeks? Unlikely. Opposition supporters will shred him for this for months / years to come.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the club now realised that they had fucked up and took action.

You’re right, anyone who behaves like this is a complete and utter cunt, and no charm offensive or carefully worded statement will change that. People now know what he is like, and nothing can change that.

There is no “learning” or “lesson” in this, as he and his publicists will try to portray. (Mea culpa / no harm done / I’ve learned a lesson / it’s helped me to become a better person etc) . No, he’s a complete and utter cunt, and now we all know that he is.

If he did this once, he has done it other times and will do it again in the future. There is zero doubt about that. Yes, the animals should be rehomed, that way he won’t be fighting the urge to abuse them and having to remind himself not to abuse them, or checking for cameras before he abuses them.

Massive massive mistake from his club to play him last night.

I read this morning that the police are now investigating, and that there is a petition with 70,000 signatures for him to be arrested.

His club must now realise that they have to act, and would be completely within their rights to tear up his contract.

Weak effort from moyes, saying he needed to pick him because he is judged by results. No David, you could have said no, and you will now be judged for putting your own selfish goals ahead of decency. If moyes had taken a stand and refused to pick him, it would have been a powerful message.

Happy! If they were named after the seven dwarfs, his brother’s middle name must be fucking Dopey!

Obviously his brother is not the sharpest tool as he sadly didn’t upload the video out of disgust of what his brother did.

God knows how many times he’s done this before without being filmed.

I believe the RSPCA have stopped taking people to court privately now, which was one of the good things about the charity, and now leave it to the CPS. Part of a shift in strategy.

Let’s hope this event makes them reconsider and this twat also gets one of Rooney’s metal studs implanted into him a few times.

Yeah moyes has always seemed a very decent and genuine bloke, and defending his selection of zouma last night is an error ther just doesn’t fit.

He must have been put under pressure by the club’s owners, but it is still his decision who plays.

Impossible situation for the players, as I wouldn’t want to work / play with someone like that, but once they are on the pitch with him they have to make it work. They should not be put in that situation .

You mean the staged and scripted apology we see all the time. That runs the same tired and bullshit using this ever so predictable keywords in an attempt to make us think he gives a fuck and regrets what he did but really he regrets he got caught? Public apology is meaningless when it comes to celebrities as it never comes across as genuine.

Apology, pay a pocket change fine, and then goes back about his business because he is "important". I'm not a fan of the extreme side of cancel culture but celebrities get forgiven far too easily when called out because it suits people.

Hi. I’m pretty sure that if a star footballer was filmed kicking the shit out for a child, and his brother laughing, and the video ended up going viral, there would be much greater uproar and the guy would be behind bars by now.

It is a good start. Though let's not be foolish and think that these companies are doing the noble thing because they believe it is a noble thing. They are distancing and removing association from him because it is a good business move, above all else.

Which is still fine of course, it's still punishing him.

They would have certainly not done this if the whole thing was not as publicised though. Would have tried to fly it under the radar if they could.

His teammate attempted to play down the incident, by questioning peoples reaction to the unfortunate event, asking if what he’s done is worse than racism.

If Mr Antonio is reading, I’d like to respond and inform him that I do not condone kicking cats, I do not condone racism, I also do not condone killing kids, mugging grannys, or rapists.

There is no measurement necessary in this matter and maybe he should focus on getting to work on time.

So the rehabilitation scam has started, with West Ham looking to “help” and “educate” the player, accepting his apology and leaving him available for selection.

Just protecting their asset, and hoping people fall for the usual tired routine of coverups. “Only Human”, “made a mistake”, “help, support, educate”, and the player saying he has learned and become a better persons. All so tired and predictable.

Pathetic,

What i think is mad about this case is everyone screaming out for him to be sacked, imprisoned etc that’s what would happen to a normal person But when it was someone biting someone on the pitch, shouting racist abuse it’s just seems acceptable to be a short ban no shout of send him to jail, sack him, community service etc

For us, it’s not a case of measuring it against any other crime or something that is not acceptable. It is wrong and disturbing that such an act was uploaded on social media with someone laughing and doing it in front of a child. Not cool whatsoever. Surely they must have thought this was funny and amusing?

I mean what next? I’m going to kick this young child or I’m going to kick this cat. Which one would you prefer I do? Ok kick the cat, because that’s a young child and it’s worse than kicking an animal. No, don’t do either. They’re both wrong and not acceptable.

Further to this, I accept what Moyles has to say about learning from experiences and mistakes, forgiving and accepting people make misjudgments and errors. I can agree with this to some point.

However, there has to be a significant moment of reflection and an example made of him in the initial period. To say, he’s made a huge mistake, regrets it, naughty boy, don’t do it again and here’s a fine. By the way, put your boots on, you’re playing in 15 minutes gives the wrong impression.

When you’ve got real hard men like Souness upset, and tough guys in the hurt game like Blachowicz and Bisping wanting to give him a kicking, then he gets the coverage he deserves.

If it’s deemed a criminal offence, then like any other criminal offence and the associated punishment that is deemed fit for such an offence, he should receive.

Nevertheless, he still needs educating and not just five minutes before the match (yes maybe an inaccurate exaggeration, but you get the drift).

For the record, this opinion is also shared for the other criminal offences you have mentioned, along with sufficient education. Not just - don’t bite people, don’t be racist because it’s wrong.
