"I don’t like that I’m called miserable because I don’t like it. Like it’s some sort of social taboo to hate on Christmas. I’m not miserable, I just don’t buy into the fake niceness, the crippling debt people cause themselves, the expectation to outdo the previous year, and pressure people try to put on me to ‘get in the spirit’ Fuck all that. Easter egg anyone? " It's all the fake shit that annoys me. Pretending goodwill to all but not giving a crap in reality. All the pics on Facebook of mountains of presents and their kids looking totally fed up next to it. Just to try and look good but they're actually up to their eyeballs in debt.

"Same nonsense put on the TV every year. My god, hearing the same Christmas songs over and over and over and over... people running around spending money they know they don't have. Cold dark and depressing, but never quite cold enough for a white Christmas. Mariah Carrey." Well, these are just a few aspects of it and taken in your perspective. I actually enjoy the Christmas period. My advice: buy a Christmas package in a decent (and I mean decent) hotel. I do every year and have done now for a longtime. Do it and you'll never view Christmas the same again.

"I had the worst Christmas and new years eve of my intire life last year. Im ok now but i was genuinely suicidal. I reached out which is a hard thing to do too about 10 folk and yes i appreciate it was a stressful time due to lockdown but every person i asked said no....some a blunt no and some a sorry can't help you no,but a no is still a no. Anyhow been doing some well being techniques and had some counciling and doing much better now and im able to cope with it this year. Ooh i should add I never had kids and i've not seen any of my family for 8 years as i moved away from them all 26 years ago." Nice one buddy - I've been in the same bat myself and it's awful. I'm glad that you got the help that you needed and I wish you a very good 2022 - it can only get better my friend.

For anyone feeling really down there is a good app called StayAlive which has lots of ideas to keep yourself safe and also advice for those supporting someone.

"Here's our "How To Have A Good Christmas" plan: 1) Didn't say thank-you for a previous present? Don't expect one this year. 2) Didn't send a present for Christmas last year? See above. 3) Don't ever borrow one single penny to pay for ANYTHING at Christmas. 4) Don't want to do something, e.g. go to lunch/church/parents/in-laws? Don't go. 5) If you do decide to go somewhere then make the effort and be pleasant to everyone there. Or (4). 6) Only eat the food you like. 7) Don't get d*unk and/or have an argument. 8) Buy the present you'd like to get. But see (3). 9) Never ever complain about the present(s) you got. 10) Go somewhere nice with someone nice. It doesn't have to be Aspen with an 18 year-old Kate Bush and her mate Debbie Harry and a bath full of warm butterscotch Angel Delight; it could just be the local cafe. Remember it's only once a year. Good job too "

"I've always struggled over Xmas, been single watching everyone else been happy, I out it with it fir my son. However I love decorating and the music But in the last few years I've realised all the "happy posts" on Facebook etc are bullshit, everyone else has their problems, not every home is all bliss and happy. My son is 27 and he never had a bad Xmas growing up so that's good but I'm now at the age where Xmas is important to me, I have both my parents and this my first Xmas off properly in the last 5 years and I'm going to enjoy it because of what I have, yes I might not have a big house, big car or a perfect family or a partner but I'm grateful for what I have. Ignore the fake shit and make it what you want it to be if you don't want to celebrate it don't, plenty of people don't and as long as its not causing harm do what you want to make yourself happy. And happy Christmas xx"

"Strewth I can feel the Christmas joy being sucked out of me…… Christmas will always be a happy time to me as I have some lovely memories of Christmas past. New Year however can do one as they’ve always been a bag of wank! " I had to go to Central London a few years back on New Year's. Jesus Christ worst mistake of my life.

"I don't do Crimbo. I'm not Bah Humbug about it, I just don't do it. Easier to work it. And don't get me started on how early Crimbo ads are on telly ! Was it last year, they started the day after Remembrance Sunday ? Crimbo should only start when Blue Peter lights the first candle on its Advent Crown ! My bit for Crimbo ? My local Salvation Army get my Tesco coupons." I love Christmas but I agree with ads appearing too early. I suppose companies want our money ASAP though.

"The commercialism has killed whatever it was meant to be. You mean the chuddly old man in a red n white suit created by a certain soft drinks manufacturer using the same colours on their packaging? "Grinch! Someone else called me that a few weeks ago Great minds..... Deep down she knows I'm right" Never!!!! I think people put too much pressure on themselves over Christmas. It should be about spending time doing things that you love with the people you love. Sod the Christmas dinner and all the faff, I'd be just as happy having pizza snuggled up on the sofa watching crap TV with cheap fizzy wine.

"We all know it's commercial nonsense, but we only really have Christmas and summer holidays to look forward to, so it's worth embracing it and making the most of it! As a single man with children it's a horrible day, having to go to their mothers to watch them open their presents then having to leave them to it till boxing day. Not a complaint for me, but it's not nice for them - it's the one day that really brings it home to them that the family has split. I also appreciate it's a hard day for the single mothers where the dad's show no interest; Christmas can be a tough time in many ways!! "
