Same nonsense put on the TV every year.

My god, hearing the same Christmas songs over and over and over and over... people running around spending money they know they don't have. Cold dark and depressing, but never quite cold enough for a white Christmas. Mariah Carrey.

I don’t like that I’m called miserable because I don’t like it. Like it’s some sort of social taboo to hate on Christmas.

I’m not miserable, I just don’t buy into the fake niceness, the crippling debt people cause themselves, the expectation to outdo the previous year, and pressure people try to put on me to ‘get in the spirit’

Fuck all that.

Yep ! I hate the whole bloody lot of it, it's just an expensive waste of time - buying things for people you don't see from 1 year to the next, not to mention the secret fucking santa at work which isn't really a secret anyway, and then spending crazy amo8nts of money that would be better spent on booze and takeaways, not to mention that Children in Need bullshit that the BBC are putting on at the moment.

I had the worst Christmas and new years eve of my intire life last year.

Im ok now but i was genuinely suicidal.

I reached out which is a hard thing to do too about 10 folk and yes i appreciate it was a stressful time due to lockdown but every person i asked said no....some a blunt no and some a sorry can't help you no,but a no is still a no.

Anyhow been doing some well being techniques and had some counciling and doing much better now and im able to cope with it this year.

Ooh i should add I never had kids and i've not seen any of my family for 8 years as i moved away from them all 26 years ago.

It's all the fake shit that annoys me. Pretending goodwill to all but not giving a crap in reality. All the pics on Facebook of mountains of presents and their kids looking totally fed up next to it. Just to try and look good but they're actually up to their eyeballs in debt.

Well, these are just a few aspects of it and taken in your perspective.

I actually enjoy the Christmas period. My advice: buy a Christmas package in a decent (and I mean decent) hotel. I do every year and have done now for a longtime.

Do it and you'll never view Christmas the same again.

I love Christmas! My whole family is close and it's a whole 2 week celebration. Seeing everyone. Lots of food. My kids don't get loads of shit either. We do Carol singing and christmassy activities etc

Last year I worked a 12hour shift on Xmas day so did ours on boxing day.

I love it!!

Here's our "How To Have A Good Christmas" plan:

1) Didn't say thank-you for a previous present? Don't expect one this year.

2) Didn't send a present for Christmas last year? See above.

I’m glad you are in a better place now. For anyone feeling really down there is a good app called StayAlive which has lots of ideas to keep yourself safe and also advice for those supporting someone.

I like Christmas if I am not working but 9 times out of 10 I am. I just find it all very stressful. I envy the people who finish up for 2weeks and have time to eat, drink and be merry but sadly that has never been me.

I've always struggled over Xmas, been single watching everyone else been happy, I out it with it fir my son.

However I love decorating and the music

But in the last few years I've realised all the "happy posts" on Facebook etc are bullshit, everyone else has their problems,not every home is all bliss and happy. My son is 27 and he never had a bad Xmas growing up so that's good but I'm now at the age where Xmas is important to me, I have both my parents and this my first Xmas off properly in the last 5 years and I'm going to enjoy it because of what I have, yes I might not have a big house, big car or a perfect family or a partner but I'm grateful for what I have.

Ignore the fake shit and make it what you want it to be if you don't want to celebrate it don't, plenty of people don't and as long as its not causing harm do what you want to make yourself happy.

And happy Christmas xx

It breaks up the winter into two halves as far as I am concerned.

I prefer the lead up to the post Xmas part. Its full of lights twinkling and doesnt have to be overly commercial, if you dont let it xx

Christmas, like any other day of the year is what you make it. I just enjoy time with family and friends. So many people I talk to, who hate Christmas, have bad childhood memories of that time of year. I suppose I am fortunate, having had a good childhood with great memories of family get togethers, etc.

We all know it's commercial nonsense, but we only really have Christmas and summer holidays to look forward to, so it's worth embracing it and making the most of it!

As a single man with children it's a horrible day, having to go to their mothers to watch them open their presents then having to leave them to it till boxing day. Not a complaint for me, but it's not nice for them - it's the one day that really brings it home to them that the family has split. I also appreciate it's a hard day for the single mothers where the dad's show no interest; Christmas can be a tough time in many ways!!

I think people put too much pressure on themselves over Christmas. It should be about spending time doing things that you love with the people you love.

Sod the Christmas dinner and all the faff, I'd be just as happy having pizza snuggled up on the sofa watching crap TV with cheap fizzy wine.
