The Disturbing Movie Iceberg Explained

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZSPgiu4WIo

So in this video he goes through a tier list of disturbing/horror films, A Serbian film is like tier 3 of 8..

The worst one i probably seen is some of the lower tier stuff which is just like live leak/faces of death kinda stuff "Africa Addio" was kinda fucked up.

"Men Behind the Sun" is quite a nasty one (its on Youtube) Its a japenese film about the stuff Unit 731 did during WW2, people think what the Nazis did was bad it doesnt come close to what Unit 731 did to Chinese prisoners. Alot of what we know about Hypothermia and what extreme cold does to the body comes from this group. Same as with German scientists after WW2 during Operation Paperclip alot of the Japanese scientists involed where given amnesty and worked for the US.

Agree with Eraserhead ..trying to see the beauty in that film, but can’t.

Irreversible, watched once never again, those who know ...know.

Audition and Martyrs another two that I but would understand why someone else wouldn’t.

In vain of horrible war films though "Stalingrad(1993)" is extremely good at depicting the horror of that battle on both sides, also "All quiet on the Western Front". The book actually makes me cry

The Lord of the Ring films were made by New Line who success had been built by makimg the Nightmare on Elm Street films and where quite good at spotting horror directors who could do more than horror....he had also just had critical acclaim and award success for my fave film of his Heavenly Creatures....and they were right to trust him

"“Threads”

A realistic British film about a nuclear war.

It’s not even a fun watch. It’s sad,

Is that the animated one with David Bowie doing the music?

Been meaning to watch it if so, i have seen bits

No, the one i am thinking of is "When the Wind Blows" "

A friend of mine was one of the animators on that film.

Threads was a tv movie set in Sheffield

Currently watching 'All This And World War II' - a montage of historical footage, excerpts from old public domain black and white films and Pathe newsreels set to bizarrely off-kilter Beatles covers (example: Hitler meandering around mountains to the sound of Helen Reddy singing 'The Fool On The Hill', clips of WAFs and WACs dancing in their gasmasks superimposed over Roy Wood's cover of 'Polythene Pam' etc) Legendarily bad...but enjoyable.

On the whole, though, bizarre films have been my stock-in-trade for years: as a former horror/scifi/ exploitation movie critic, I'm a fair-to-middling authority on such matters, and I'm still autistically obsessive about it now, though I'm not currently working in the field. My favourite film of all time, Peter Medak's semi-musical/black comedy/horror/satire 'The Ruling Class' (1972) is definitely odd- as is Patrick McGoohan's "hostage film as viewed through the eyes and ears of the public" Kings And Desperate Men (1975) and many of my other favourites from that period. However, I'm just as likely to watch a Carry On, a Spielberg, a Rix farce or an old John Ford western, as I appreciate the skills and talents that went into creating all of them. Many of which are sadly missed today...but that's another discussion entirely.

It’s the fact the film is in reverse that messes you up as well. So you don’t get the full perspective till the end / beginning. Also check out the book she’s reading at the end in the park, it’s actually relevant to the film and it’s message.
