We deserve to have a great social care system and the covid-19 problem has demonstrated that it's fraught with issues. There's an issue of people in health and care being under-valued and paid. Ir should be brought into line with the best that exists in other countries and should not mean that discharges from hospital means that vulnerable people suffer lack of appropriate care.

Nothing is free, so will have to be paid for and forms of taxation are the ways to do this.

I'm unsure about just taxing over 40s, as younger people will want care too. We also need better care services for people with health and disability issues of any and all ages.

right now the NHS dept has been written off and millions was raised for it. Why should we now start paying more for it when millions of us was forced to earn less this year and many millions could be out of work between now and next 12 months.

I'm guessing that thus is a policy idea dropped into a conversation with a political journalist (or two) in order to get it into the public domain and gauge the reaction.

The support for the idea of a higher tax doesn't matter, the important thing will be the absence, or minimal, negativity. If people don't oppose higher taxation then you can pretty much guarantee that you're going to get it.

The idea of higher taxation at a determined age smacks of pitting one group off against another; over 40? You must be able to afford to pay more tax. That will sit well with the under 40s until they hit that age.

It's important to remember that taxation was introduced as a temporary measure to fund a war (1799 Napoleonic Wars) and was never reminded as the government realised what a money spinner it was.

It's also important to realise the amount of money collected by taxation that is wasted by the pigate politicians and civil service (e.g. Chris Grayling MP of the ferries that didn't exist etc. is responsible for something like £17 Bn pounds of write-off: that's £17,000,000,000 ).

Guarantee, also, that any additional tax revenue will primarily enrich the pockets of multinationals (e.g. Serco, Capita etc.) contracted to provide the envisioned 'service' and that the provision will be severely diluted through their profiteering and wastage.

Now sit back and calculate how much of your income is already swallowed by the government and yet, despite being in the top ten of the wealthiest economies in the world, we have widespread poverty, poor social housing provision, a requirement for food banks, roads peppered with potholes, a largely ineffective police force etc. etc.

Raising taxes is not the solution; cutting out pigate waste, inefficiency and middle men and managers is.

everybody pays 15% tax on all earnings whilst domiciled in this country for more than 180 days per year tax is on earnings anywhere in the world no tax relief everybody to file tax return annually paye or not .

Very noble but people do not want to pay for it,they want better health care but do not want to pay for it that is the problem
