"Not usually... some do take a scan at the initial consultation, but varies from practice to practice Ok. And the scans are just skeletal x-rays, correct?" It's rare for a practice to have a scanner better than just x-rays

Bit like someone is gently stabbing my back under the scapula.

"I had my 1st appointment with a chiropractor. There was no scan or xray. We discussed any concerns and issues and the then he went to work. I had previously suffered really badly with pain in my shoulder and neck. In the end it was swimming that sorted it out. For me I think I need a good sports massage..not that I play sport?" So the chiropractor didn't help? I also have a trapped nerve in my shoulder, sometimes like 2-3 times a year I get a jolt through my entire body as if someone electric shocked me starting at the shoulder joint

The pain was unbearable. I couldn't even sit at my desk at work! The pain went kind neck- shoulder blade and down my arm..like through my funny bone. I could feel like a numbness in some of my fingers. I was necking loads of cocodamol. It was brutal! I only went once to the chiropractor. I was going to go back but I didn't really think he could help. I get little reminders that's it just below the surface and could and probably will come back .

" Those are classic symptoms of a disc prolapse in the neck. Chiropractors can help but you need to see a doctor. Did you rest your arm over the top of your head?

I did go to the doctor and had a scan..they said stenosis of the neck...wear and tear. My 'spurs' grew down and not out (which usually happens) and can 'pinch' the nerve. I can't remember if I put my arm over my head but I tried every position possible. It was a couple of yrs ago now.

"Go see an osteopath. Chiropractors are charlatans. " This. Chiropractic is an occasionally dangerous pseudoscience that has been known to kill people. See a real doctor instead for referral to actual science-based medical professionals.
