Hoping this will be of interest to some

Yesterday I came across the Open University website and was scrolling through the range of free courses they have available, loads of topics and subjects.

Definitely worth a look if you are wanting to stop your brain from turning to mush.

I must have a look. I'm a big fan of free on line courses. I used to update my Microsoft office skills that way. I've done Spanish courses, history and creative writing too.

.

But if I did one of those I wouldn't be able to read the fora which are an interesting insight into society and how it copes with a lockdown.

(Thanks OP, I'm going to take a look and see if there is anything I like)

That's brilliant! I'm the same always looking for the next thing to study.

Yes there are courses relating to those on there as well as languages. Loads of stuff available.

I thought it might be useful for people to know while in lockdown.

Thanks for highlighting this OP. The OU is a fantastic place to learn about subjects that pique your interest. I did one of their free short courses a few years ago, as a way of getting some focus back in my life after a mental breakdown ... I'm now half way through a part-time BA in English Language and Classics. It can be challenging at times, especially while working full-time, but it gives a great sense of satisfaction and achievement. And...their support network is incredible, especially when it comes to looking after your mental health. I highly recommend OU study to anyone

Currently doing online Astrophysics 101 at University of Alberta. Which is challenging for someone who hasn't done maths since 1992!

Brilliant! There is loads of stuff I saw I want to do but on top of having two degrees already and undertaking two more qualifications while on lockdown I think I am doing enough

It changed my outlook, my motivation in life and pretty much my total direction in it, too.

Plus it gave me a certain confidence in my abilities for particular things that I lacked.

Also I was a woman before.

I couldn't recommend the OU enough.

The OpenLearn courses are interesting and definitely a great way to keep the grey matter active.
