I find myself wondering why those who choose to hide their profiles are still allowed to post on the forums? and enter chat...

Surely if you are 'hidden' you wish to play no part here? (pun intended). If you aren't 'playing' but still wish to post on the forums, why not just change your profiles to reflect this?

Because people don't read profiles

members obviously feel it's easier to hide their profile, that way, they don't have to explain to anyone

The answer is that the site owners allow it, they obviously see no problem with and we tend to agree with them.

Each individual on here gets to choose how they conduct themselves and as long as they remain within the rules then there is no issue.

Its a matter of personal choice, maybe their profile remains hidden and only available for friends on their list. Maybe they are taking time out, maybe they have enough play partners for the time being, who knows, who really cares.

People hide their profile for many reasons. None of those reasons are anyone elses business but the profile holders and shouldn't even be questioned.

In any case, it is a facility which the site has provided and I can see no reason whatsoever why someone with a hidden profile should be excluded from the other parts of the site.

It's that funny little thing which every now and again rears it's ugly head.

People get bitched at/about for doing your proposed "solution" too - i.e. NOT hiding their profile but stating that they're not playing.

Folk just can't win round here sometimes.

Hide it you get questioned over, leave it open but have on it "not playing at the moment" and people question that too.

If a member wants to use any facility of the site that is given they can. They can then use the rest of the site as they wish.

Long answer

Why should "not meeting" prevent me expressing opinions on all the off topic stuff on the main forum? Does it mean such experience as I have should not be passed on via the Support forum?

I am sick to bloody death of people assuming it's because I'm ugly/fat/ashamed/hated or worse, and getting slated on the forums for it.

I've hidden it for a while because I WANT TO.........because we don't want to meet anyone else at the moment and it's better than being slated for not replying/having 'not looking' on our profile etc.

The site allows me to and I've taken them up on that option.

Why should I not be allowed to post on the forums just because people who do not know can't look at my pictures?

I've been on FAB since the beginning and I've been a forumite since the beginning. My need to hide my profile does NOT diminish my ability to type in the forums.

You just can't fucking win at the moment.

What is this........ everyone's at home bored so lets have a whinge about anything and everything?

we never question peeps who hide their profile; we worry for Friends who do as we know at that point they have an issue/s so respect that that is their choice

the only time hiding a profile would/should come into question is if they are actively seeking a meet (say in the chat rooms) but its hidden so you have no idea who they are, where they are or what they are looking for

Nothing wrong with this either really as they can contact you via pm with their details or an email address to pass information back and forth.

One of the reasons folk hide their profile is to stop being contacted but that does not and should not stop them making the first move by pm etc

How do you know that friends who hide their profiles have issues?

Surely thats generalising?

People hide them for lots of reasons...... and 'issues' may not be it.

I've hidden mine because in the two years I've been married, I've organised 8 socials on here and other sites, been and finished another degree at a uni I had to commute a 400 mile trip to, got a new and extremely high pressure job and quite frankly, I'm knackered ......... so we do the odd club now and again, and we will be actively swinging when we get back from our hols in March.....

Now....... is that an 'issue'? Or is that just 'real' life getting in the way for a while?

Just makes me wonder why people think that because we have hidden profiles, we shouldn't be allowed to voice our opinions or still 'chat' to people.

It's not the first time I've heard this.

But as you as, I can do, so I will do.

OK, maybe my original post lit the blue touch paper a little, but my main reason was, I'm sure in the old 'regime' you couldn't enter chat if your profile was hidden.

It's been interesting reading !
