Cursor jumps to new message in chat

When I'm in the chat rooms and posting in the main chat or replying to a DM it's REALLY annoying when a new chat appears and the cursor appears in the new chat.

I've lost count of the number of times I've sent the last half of a message to someone I didn't want to send that message to.

If the cursor could stay where it was until I've finished my message that would be great
