Can just see the internet crashing at 11pm Monday when all the non-swingers who have watched it try and find a club to go to. Then the massive disappointment when it turns out that all the clubs are shut !!

Tho guess they could go to a club which is open for socials only.

Which leads onto adverts for Swingers Clubs in the program intermissions.

I can see it now;

"Come to Xtasia" Paul and Flirt explaining why Xtasia is the best in 30 seconds.

We are looking forward to watching this but every time swinging and the lifestyle is mentioned on tv it always seems to be shed in a dark light and seems to be shown as seedy.

Do you think this documentary will be any different ?

I had some good hopes as we spoke to the Director a couple of times as we very nearly were a part of it and he was saying all the right things. The trailer didn’t fill me with lots of hope though. Fingers crossed the rest is better...

I was also asked to be involved but decided against it. The narrator sounds like she’s trying to suppress laughter from the clip I’ve seen.

Good luck to all involved.

Same here although our rejection was very quick.

You have to think would they create a serious documentary or would they produce something with entertainment value to get viewers. Even if the director and producer wanted something serious there is a good chance that it would end up being changed later in the edit to be more appealing as entertainment to attract viewers.

Do not expect that it will be very kind to the community, but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

We’ve been in contact a couple of times with documentary producers in the past. Both were extremely professional outfits.

One in particular was extremely interested in filming on the Swinger Cruises that we do. As he found however, the better advocates for the lifestyle are often extremely reluctant to open themselves to film making.

It’s a catch 22, we want the lifestyle promoting in a sensitive and sensible way, but we aren’t brave enough to be a voice and spokesperson.

It’s a similar position to the LGBTQ issues of many years ago.....

Some swinger clubs only allow "perfect" body sizes there is 1 near me couples only if your older than 40 forget it and both male and female have to have bodies of supermodels . They inspect all pics before you get an invite and if 30 couples out of several 100 make it they can class themselves as the elite and costs an arm and a leg to get in

As I understand it, in this case, club members were asked if they wanted to "star" in the show. I'd guess that if you were remotely self conscious about your appearance, you'd have politely declined the invitation. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, from the YouTube teaser, thank gawd that nobody is being made to wear those jackass masks this time.

It’s just a bit of fun, it was never going to be a sober examination of the scene. I guarantee it will attract more to the scene, some will dabble and fade away, others will stay. The more exposure it gets the more normalised it will be and the greater the acceptance. Look at Germany and France, really no big deal to have clubs openly trading. Having said that, i quiet like the slightly ‘forbidden’ vibe (yes i know its nothing to be ashamed off etc but its fun)

First red flag when the voiceover said “for couples desperate to spice up their sex life”

I’m trying not to be apprehensive about it as the _ed hoppers podcasters are featured on it and I’m hoping they make it factual and interesting and not the usually seedy, pervy environment that swinging is often perpetuated as in these sort of documentaries.

Went there once when we lived in mids the midweek mature event

Some snotty bitch in the jacuzzi saying we shouldn’t be there ( she was moaning about women over a size 12 )- pity my partner a lip reader

Lots of silver foxes with trophy 2nd wives great club but caused Mrs S a lot of issues afterwards

Thankful that new paradise was more welcoming

Never had issue in other clubs but they can stick the ‘elite’ set up

Fantastic club set up .. pity about Some of the clientele on the night ..

Very rarely hear any negative comments about the Mature night, been a few times myself and always found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming.

Fully understand that a snotty comment from someone can be hurtful but it’s certainly not the norm at the Mature night from my own personal experience.

Did you contact the hosts as inform them of what happened? they are a lovely couple and will usually bend over backwards to make sure everyone has a good night.

We have been to the mature mischief nights your referring to, mid week, first weds in every month. Whilst I can empathise with what you mentioned about some people looking down their noses at people who are in the larger category, that happens at every club. the first MM night we went to we struggled to make a connection with anyone, however, that has since not been A problem as we joined their kik group and made “friends” before we went again, that certainly broke the ice for a lot of people in the same boat as us..

As for the silver fox’s with 2nd Trophy wives, I find that statement just rude and judgemental! (A bit like the lady you described in the jacuzzi?) it’s an over 40’s night, most people would have some silver hair if they didn’t dye it!!!!!!

And even though only one of the couple has to be over 40, why should that be of any consequence if the other person is half their age? It’s their business, their relationship!

I can only echo the subsequent comments in this. Every MM night I’ve been to at Libs has been good and very inclusive of all. All I can do is suggest you visit again and not judge on a single occasion.

I've been going to the MM nights for 18 months and I am way bigger than a size 12 and have never experienced anyone being derogatory to a male of female because of their size.

Yes there's silver foxes and that's good! I prefer men over 40 and thats what the night is designed for, the over 40's! The silver foxes may have attractive partners, possibly even younger but only one half of a couple has to be over 40.

The first few times I didn't feel totally at ease, but that was about me and not anyone else. So I did what anyone should do if not confident - fake it 'til you make it.

Mature Mischief is a great night I would recommend it to anyone. And Libs is a fantastic club where I, a single plus sized woman feel happy and safe.

We took part - you can see us in the trailer. We did it because we wanted to put forwards a hopefully good view of swinging. It was a very quiet night - for sure. The producers were keen to show a sensible positive side to the lifestyle. But the trailer doesn’t fill us with hope. Fingers crossed the actual show is alright.

There are several documentaries that shows places or experiences that not everyone can have it or visit in their lives. There are also few swinging documentaries where places are secret and hidden as well. I see no difference personally. If they manage to shed a positive light with this, it’s a good step up for the community.

My guess is that all Swingers will be portrayed as sex addicts, perverts, immoral etc no good will come of it. probably be blamed for spreading Covid pre-lock down!

The underworld of FAB should be left alone, to many high profile people use it of which can jeopardize their careers. Police, judges, solicitors, etc.

Shame that this yet another blow, to the world of FAB!

I admire you for taking part, having listened to your podcasts you epitomise all the good things about the lifestyle. Poor form on c4 if they do not let that shine through. Cross fingers for a good show.

Just found it on FB and commented “for couples desperate to spice up their sex life” and there we have it, the mainstream attitude to swinging. How crass and ignorant of channel 4 to say this. Swinging is a lifestyle choice and is just as much about friendship and making social connections. Sex is only a small part of it. So disappointed that channel 4 seems to have ignored this aspect completely just to titilate the masses and paint swingers as desparate, sex mad people just for ratings.

Why would any TV channel commission a programme that shows people just meeting like minded people? I wouldn’t watch it, it would be dull

it was always going to be for cheap thrills, if you entered into it thinking anything else then you’re naive.

It will attract more people to the scene, for good or ill. More people mean that more clubs will survive, its up to the clubs to discourage the ‘wrong’ types.

(By the way, there is nothing wrong with a cheap thrill)

As a man who’s never been to a club I can safely say the owner of Liberty looks and sounds like an absolute gentleman from the documentary trailer on YouTube.

I would love to go to a club closer to home because of the seemingly friendly nature of the setup.

And because of how hot that girl he’s talking to at the end was

Never thought I'd post a post like this here...

So, I used to use cloth nappies.

It's to do with a) biological washing powder and b)proteins in bodily fluids...

Any hotter than 40 and the enzymes in washing powders wouldn't do their job, they'd be denatured or killed..

Also, hotter than 40 essentially cooks the proteins in bodily fluids making them harder to remove... imagine egg whites...

So yeah. 40 with a biological washing powder is actually most effective!

It definitely had a pre planned narrative although it was nice that people who have never been can see that clubs are welcoming and get a wide range of people attending.. So might make them more curious about attending a club.

First impressions count...so what's the first thing that they show? The morning after the night before with used condoms, underwear, litter and towels all over the place.

So that's what swinging is all about? Mind you, no less litter than you find on a British beach after a sunny weekend during lockdown. I wonder if Channel 4 will be doing a mockumentry about that too?

Watched many a documentary over the years. Thought that was by far the best.

Let's face it. No one is perfect. We all have some issues.

I enjoyed it. Made me feel very proud of the memories and time spent in the scene.

Great people, as for being broken. You can portray anyone as broken if they have an experience which is deemed not proper.

Loved it, can't wait for the clubs to open. Meet interesting people in an erotic environment....

The producers had to have all the music turned down so they could here the mics on the people attending.

Plus they did try and invite a lot of people from Fab to make a real party atmosphere but got a lot of abuse from fab members.

I'm sure that if they'd have filmed at Jaydees it would have been exactly the same. Try a hotwife party night at Libs and you will see Libs on a good night."

Been to many parties at libs, and whikst its a nice enough club, its nowhere near as friendly as jaydees.

Very difficult for new visitors to get involved.

"Watched many a documentary over the years.

Meet interesting people in an erotic environment...."

Yeah all these threads with people complaining that not many people took part in the programme. So why didn't they take part instead of moaning?!

To be fair it didn’t do the club justice. Think because it was well known that they would be filming that night it put a lot of people off attending. You know how judgemental people are. Unfortunately it really didn’t show the club in it’s true colours. No where near enough people and not enough focus on the club and how good a social night it can be. Probably because it wasn’t as busy as it can be. Just focused on the sex and unfortunately came across as a bit awkward and sleazy. Not Libs at all!

Unfortunately because it wasn’t as busy it couldn’t show the true variety of characters that attend and that it’s not just about having sex. Well not with us it’s not. That’s what we mean by variety. Yes you might have sex with others but might not.

We have attended a few clubs and Libs is in our top 2 along with Secrets. If in doubt, don’t judge by this documentary. Check it out yourselves, we think you will then see it in it’s true colours. Their event nights are great and it really is a great night out. Just don’t go there with an attitude just to have sex. It’s way more than that. Thanks Libs hope the refurbishments are nearly finished. Love you and can’t wait to be able to stay with you for our long weekend escape again. G & J x

It's a load of old bollocks, filmed on a Tuesday night when the club is never open. Yes it looked a bit messy at the start but fuck me they had just held the real couples Valentine's night party on the Saturday before with about 400 people there. I recogise 1 woman and she's bar staff, no one who I now would appear, they had people in the club approaching the clientel for about 2 months and by the looks of it no one said yes. All a bit dissapoint because it's making a good club look shit

I enjoyed watching the documentary , thought everyone came across well , especially considering a camera was following them around ( better than I would have done ,,and I am not afraid to admit it ) ,, felt for the young lady who got upset ,I am sure on another evening her and her husband would be very popular ,both appeared decent people and from a male perspective I thought she looked sexy , I have read a few negative comments but I personally thought the place looked OK ,,maybe not the best start showing the morning after the night before ,, my assessment , well done participants and well done Channel 4

It's good to hear what you've said here, because otherwise it made the place look a bit grim, which we know it isn't. Maybe it just does up the difficulty of making a genuine programme about swinging in Britain.

Such a shame that Justine and her guy couldn't find anyone, making her feel unsexy. She's gorgeous and definitely one I would try my best to impress at a club.

Hope they see all the lovely comments on this and other forum posts

If they had over 100 guests on a previous night, then I'm curious why we only saw a handful of guests in the documentary? Filming reasons? Asking a couple of people to attend a quiet night (a very quiet night) does not seem the right way to advertise the club. That couple that were unhappy for not being chosen would have had no problems on a proper night i.e. a night they were open to the general public. It feels like the documentary wanted to create a dramatic story, by making that couple upset on purpose because there was practically nobody else there during filming. Could be wrong, but it just seems a bit fishy and was done for TV ratings appeal.
