Hey yea I have fitted one to my t4

They are pretty easy. But it depends on your budget as to what to buy.

Chinese one can be had for around £120 then fitting (I have this sort)

Branded eg erbaspatcher webasto etc would be around £700 then fitting

There is an Eberspacher on Ebay right now under £150. Used, obviously, but there isn't a lot to go wrong and it's a great brand.

Yes I've fitted a few Chinese diesel heaters to vans in my time.

Truck breakers have them. Though most will need the leads of 2 batteries to run 24 volt

Tip if you buy a Chinese diesel heater makes sure it is no bigger than 2kw for a t5 sized van otherwise will be too warm.

Also some are marked as 2kw but actually 5kw

If you fit a webasto one make sure you power it to the vehicle battery. We had problems with ours for about 6 months discovered eventually it wouldn't power up off the leisure battery as the amp output was to low so heater thought battery was dead and wouldn't start

Another fan of the Chinese diesel heaters here. There is a relatively new Chinese company, Lavaner, producing heaters now. They are slightly more expensive (still under £200) but massively better quality than the average eBay cheapo.

"How easy are they to fit ?"

I fit mine myself in a couple of hours

Basic electrical skills required to connect it to the leisure battery.

Also depends on if you feed it from the vehicle fuel tank or the tank supplied with the kit

Join the Facebook Chinese diesel heater group al the information you would ever need

Basic DIY skills needed, plenty of help on youtube. Easier to use fuel tank supplied, saves you running vehicle tank dry.

I’ve fitted a few of these, no problems so far. For £100.00 you can’t go wrong!

Big mistake running it off the van main battery it will flatten battery and you wont be able to start engine.

If your leisure battery wont run the heater get another battery added and check split charge system to ensure the leisure battery wasn't actually fully charged.

Also try turning heater on with engine running then switch off engine.

The glow plug is the only thing that draws high amperage once heater is running glow plug switches off

Defiantly connect to your leisure battery and not the vehicle start battery

be careful! We bought a second hand Eberspacher from eBay for £300 for our last camper and it was a 'mare... Cost over £600 in parts & never worked correctly. That said, the previous camper we had was factory fitted with one which was 100% reliable and toasty warm!

My friend also had this trouble when buying a second hand erberspacher off e bay ended up using the inlet and exhaust if it and purchased a Chinese one off e bay 2 years later still running fine.

I have an eberspacher and it’s amazing. We use a diesel heater specialist called Gary Toozer and he’s fantastic and comes to you to fit them. Xx
