Hi! We are the Outreach team at Spectrum, a Wakefield based fully confidential free sexual health service and clinic. We are accessing this site to make people aware of a sharp increase in sexually transmitted infections in the local area.

Testing is a really easy, confidential process and can be done in a number of ways. We offer a range of tests depending upon the type of sex that people have engaged in. All tests including swabs are done by the patient themselves and an examination is typically not required.

Chlamydia/ Gonorrhoea are tested together, this is done via a urine sample for men (or someone with a penis), and a vaginal swab for women (or someone with a vagina), we also advise an anal/ oral swab if someone has engaged in unprotected sex in those areas as both infections can also transmit in this way. Symptoms are uncommon with both infections.

We also offer tests for HIV/ Syphilis. These typically require a very small blood sample from one finger and results are instant. These tests are carried out by staff.
