North Wales warnings to tourists

We've just driven back from Manchester to our house in North Wales and there were several placards at the side of the road saying various versions of 'tourists go home - we don't want you here'.

Our attitude is that anyone is welcome to use the wide open spaces of Snowdonia and elsewhere, provided they take the precautions the government have proposed.

The vast majority of the Northern Welsh are friendly, responsible and accommodating, and it seems a shame to us that a strident few are displaying signs like this.

God knows if I was bottled up in a flat in a town centre, I'd want to escape for a few hours.

What do you think?

Probably in light of the 100s that flocked to Snowdon yesterday with total disregard for the social distancing advice, plus apparently some people are taking to their holiday homes to self isolate/distance therefore risking burdening themselves on the local areas health services should they become ill whilst there rather than at their home address.

North Wales

The problem is, everyone seemed to have the same idea to go to a remote place Llanberis was overrun at the weekend!

Looks like the government will be taking it out of our hands.

Wales is now closed! All campsites, national parks, tourist attractions. There was some bad feeling in our village last night, some arrests were made in clashes between locals and campers, the place was deserted this morning afterwards.

Amazing. Lillibet fled to Windsor last week (no doubt for social distancing reasons) and now ordinary folks are banned from fleeing to Windsor (or indeed anywhere else).Strange coincidence init?

The message seems to be 'stay in London and die'(unless your blood is of azure hue and you can leg-it timely).

Just to point something out here.

A huge number of the people who were angry about people coming to Wales weren’t Welsh themselves.

I know a lot of people from England and other places living here who were angry about it too. Also, I saw a lot of people in England who love visiting Wales who were very angry about people travelling.

I guess I’m saying it wasn’t just the Welsh. It was more residents(of any nationality) vs visitors.

I have to say, I think they were right to be angry.

I have a friend who works in a doctor’s surgery - a number of people who’d come to their second homes tried to register with them!

Last weekend there was a violent clash involving petrol between campers who had descended on local to me campsites and "local people" There were some arrests made but the local people arrested were all English youths from the next village. I believe that was the only real clash last weekend I believe
