Cardiff club

Right folks. Genuine question and id like genuine responses please.

Ive personally met with a developer this week who owns a large plot of buildings within 5 mins of the central train station. The property is just a few minutes walk out of the city center itself.

Previous clubs have not seemed to be very successful and end up closing.

If a new club in Cardiff city centre (ish) was developed, would you use it?

What would you like to see in the club? Lockable rooms, open rooms, dungeon etc.

Genuine theme night ideas?

Would you prefer a bar or a bring your own drink bar?

Entertainment nights?

I appreciate all ideas that you put forward.

Check previous post about it. People in South Wales are crying out for a new club. If it done right and properly then it'll be a huge success especially in Cardiff.

Hope this does actually take off

Gosh this is a difficult one as there are so many factors to consider.

Cardiff is a difficult place to sustain a club, for example I remember attempts to launch a couple of fetish clubs years past. Also you have Chams to compete with.

Even Dare 2 in Bristol is hit and miss - we gave it a go on 4 separate occasions and found it disappointing each time.

It is about pitching the club at the right 'level. By this I mean do you want a more sophisticated style where people can enjoy an evening out sexually dressed and able to flirt, or a more hard core swinging environment? From our experience of speaking to other Hotwife couples in Cardiff, we all are desperate for a high class venue where we can dress to impress and be naughty.

As to alcohol, it really depends if that is a necessary revenue stream for you to make the club viable? If it is, you will of course need a licence and then you need to decide at what price point you pitch your alcohol sales. But if too expensive that will deter people.

You might want a different USP to Chams, and dare I say it, the upmarket feel might be the way to go.

A dungeon is good, but again it should be properly thought out and consist of some decent gear rather than a few chains and an old school gym pommel horse. But that isn't cheap to do. If you do have a decent dungeon then you can also run specific fetish nights, but be warned that Cardiff has always struggled to fill a fetish club, even back in the 90s heyday of the fet scene.

Marketing will be key- you have to keep the club in people's consciousness. Anf if you are going to run fetish nights too then you will need to promote on other well known sites.

Variety is also important, and the big successful clubs elsewhere are good at offering different themed events to maintain interest.

Finally people don't realise how important it is to play decent music. I realise taste is highly subjective, but the music must be appropriate to the event and of the widest possible appeal to maintain a positive and fun atmosphere.

Thank you for your response. From the developer and the location he wants an up market area as there is nothing near.

With regards to hosting i would like a variety of hosts that are specific to the nightly theme.

Excited about this. A lot of good points out above.

I do like the bring your own but I think it definitely needs monitoring more than other clubs do. D*unk people aren't necessarily safe people in a club. (Not really worded right but couldn't think of another way)

If it is a licensed bar a tab system would still be good like at Chams so money isn't necessarily needed to be carried around the club.

Dress I think it should be maybe dress up till a certain time in the evening then people have the option to dress down possibly. Or anything women and men feel sexy in within reason obvs. Don't want grubby work clothes, etc.

Agree with you, Cardiff does need a club, if it's in the same area as club 19 was then there may be a bit of a problem, mainly being a bit of a run down area. Fab if it takes off.

There still needs to be control of financially letting single males turn any club into a cockfest.

Take a look at other successful clubs who either insist on membership or prior booking (guest list) that seem to get a better balance and make the club a pleasant experience for couples and single fems.

Cardiff club sounds brilliant although it's the same distance for us either way to Newport or Cardiff would be nice to have a choice in the future! All brilliant ideas above I'm sure you will get more than a few suggestions and pointers aspecaily from those who have bin on the scene a while/longest.

Maybe a bit of home work as to what the other clubs offer or nights that are putting on so that this club could maybe offer something different or that's not available yet? Wonder if having it open thurs-sun would maybe appeal to alot of people as more local clubs seem to only be open on weekends x

Where to start, got a lot of things running around my head on this subject!

From research I did a while back. It depends what you call the type of business you have, to which licenses you need. You can't be that close to homes, schools etc

Personally, I would have it open 7 days a week. Quiet times I would advertise rooms to be let by the hour, if booked in advance. I would have an online calender on the website showing what is happening on any particular day

You could have....

Singles events

Couples only

Men only

Women only

Trans and those that adore them

Bi and bi friendly

Fetish events

Medical people in once a month for sexual health tests

Party nights with themes

You could let people book the place just for them and their guests for birthdays, anniversarys, divorce parties etc

Run well, a club could be a money maker

Well that's my tuppence anyway

Would have thought the most important aspect is the range of facilities.

How many rooms? Some lockable. Others public. Some small for couples other larger for group play. Dungeon area. A private outside area or roof terrace adds an extra dimension in good weather.

Jacuzzi always popular, and steam room / sauna may attract other guests during the day.

Showers & bathroom facilities always seem to be an afterthought in many clubs -decent facilities will give a head start over others...

I think a place where people can wear what they want would be good. Spoken to so many people who won’t go to chams simply because of the dress code. Men and women. Many times we have not bothered going to chams simply because mrs just doesn’t want to have to wear something sexy or revealing

Hey we mite be in for a treat in Cardiff for 2 clubs as I was talking to a guy on weekend who was on about a guy who is on about opening a club in centre of Cardif very soon . sounded awesome..

Sounds like a great idea. It would be good to have an alternative to Chams and Cardiff is as good a place as any.

I think BYOB is probably the best as If you have an alcohol licence the police are allowed to check the premises if they wish. Maybe not a good thing.

I agree with lots of the ideas above and would also love a good dance area at a club and even foam parties now and again

Could someone please explain to me what is meant by upmarket though as I think this means different things to different people and I would rather be relaxed at a club rather than be uncomfortable and worried about being overdressed or underdressed . Or not being the right type for a certain club.

I think it would need to be upmarket, discreet and almost hiding.

Le boudoir is a very good format to copy. We’ve only been to two clubs though.

The whole wet jacuzzi thing sounds very expensive and not necessary. Having to wander round in your knickers is also a little ridiculous as a rule and puts people off.

The main ingredient would be an owner that stuck with the program while it’s losing money for a few months.

It would be hard not to panic on quiet nights. Probably tempting to fill it with the wrong people and spoil it by accident.

Must be a few rich welsh swingers that can put their heads together.

It’ll make money in the end

Maybe we could all have a whip round

I never wear a towel any more. I always wear shorts and so do many others. The towels are a pain as they just keep falling off.

Suggest using Xtasia in West Brom as your model, yes its in need of a little TLC atm but the blue print is right. Its a night club just like any other but with a members policy. Dancing, licensed bar etc but with fun rooms. Theme nights and events are a must. Good luck, we wish you every success and will def attend.

The point we were making is Mr S hates the fact he can't dress too and shorts or a towel just aren't sexy for us.

Good luck to you but you will need to make sure you have plenty of capital and also not be in it thinking you’re going to make a big profit from it. We would definitely attend if it was up to standard.

I have a very busy life outside of fab with front line services. Its quite frankly on the back burner from my point if view. The developer is still looking to provide a venue and has met someone recently to develop one of his more secluded properties.

In hindsight, its the last of anyones concerns right now.
