The art of conversation

Is it just me, or have people forgotten how to communicate these days?

Simply put, one word, or one sentence intro messages, really doesn't justify a reply, or does it?

I like to think I can hold a conversation really well, and will even reply to the above mentioned messages, just out of politeness, but it's really getting to the point where I can't be arsed to do that either!

Would love to hear your thoughts on this...

So if I message you saying "hi" will I get a response

I tend not to write long winded messages as mostly they never get redd anyway, so I save the energy for something else

There's nothing worse than a lazy one worded or even a few words.

Definitely one of my pet hates

I’d prefer a coherent sentence especially if you’ve been taking to them before on ongoing.

It is a bit of an annoyance but then again, they might have just popped online, read quickly and have to go. If the conversation however has been fluid and all answers are one or two words, they’ve simply lost interest. Delete and move on

Sometimes the shy brief openers can develop to a good conversation.

Prefer a well crafted opener though. Something with a bit of wit and cheek x

Conversation is well and truly dead for the most part, unless you count “fancy watching me wank?” in an introductory message as polite conversation. People don’t even pretend to make the effort anymore.

Yeah sorry about that message, don't know what came over me, so to speak

But back on track, yes conversation seems to be a dying art form on fab, which is a shame as good conversation leads to good chemistry which leads to good...well, you know the rest

In my opinion if a lady doesn't reply within 40 milliseconds then she's too snooty and doesn't deserve to see the goods

I've always found it hard to hold a conversation on here.

One word replies if I'm lucky. It makes me feel like I'm hassling the ladies.

Which is why I spend most of my time in the forums.. Because atleast in the forums I can get acknowledged.

Been having a lot of issues with this, we try to reply to all messages when we can and both get online when we can but it's seriously hard work sometimes. I need a bit of flirty chat and normal chatty banter to feel comfortable with someone!

The worst one I’ve had lately, with the subject line “Bare”, just said “Spread that cunt and I’ll make you grunt” - don’t try and tell me the art of conversation is dead, how could I resist that?

I love good conversation.

I tend to waffle on about all sorts though. I guess that’s just the real me though.

Need to focus and aim for brevity

Please don't, they are so depressing I'm sick of trying to force conversations... they usually assume I am Mr rather than bother to ask which doesn't help!

I totally agree which baffles me why a lot of people, and let's be honest it's mainly the ladies, expect a well crafted and thorough opener. When in the art of conversation did that become the norm? Surely most good conversations begin with a simple hello and an introduction. Not a bloody CV, covering letter and autobiography rolled into one. Where does that leave the conversation?

Certainly for me I don't want War and Peace, but hello and an introduction isnt happening! It's literally "Fancy a meet now?" (Not read profile), "Hi" or "She's hot" and while I have replied to all I can only take so many single word answers before I assume a lack of personality that will match with mine behind the screen...

It’s not like a conversation in person though. It’s not as free-flowing and organic as that. You can’t quickly follow up a “hi” with other stuff.

I can see why it’s important to say something to grab the attention and stimulate interest from the off.

I disagree. I believe it can be free flowing and organic if the personalities are there.

For me stimulation is built in the conversation. I find sometimes the initial grabs but from there it drops because people have given so much in the introduction. It can also become very scripted.

I just want to chat and go from there. Back and forth, banter flirting, humour..... Conversation

I usually find the opposite... can't find many who keep up with me! Nothing hooks me more than good banter...
