100 yrs since it set sail. just curious on how people would react today if they were in the same boat (pun). Would we be so civilised to let women and children go first

I suspect any responses will be clearly divided between the older and younger responders.

Speaking personally, I would never even think of taking a place if there was one woman or one child left waiting.

Having said that, I'm the kind of person that always gives up a seat on a bus or train to an older, infirm or female passenger. I also hold doors open for people.

Agree in total ... peopel are suprised when i get up and offer my seat... and they very nice showing appreciation too

As I Gus was with the R.N.L.I for 12 yes I can totally understand about shops wud when things can go so wrong.But I do really think in todays society I think it would be everyone for then selfs with the very few exceptions

i agree waiting for the train after one of the six nations game was a free for all to get on the train. women oaps kids were shoved out of the way. luckily me and a few second row hunks physically stopped the idiots pushing an older couple under the train

I think in any situation where your life is in grave danger then your main priority would be to save your own arse. Fight or flight, it's human nature.

Unfortunately this is true of today's society. Look at the petrol scare mongering, panic buying at the pumps and fighting over a limited resource.

If you put someone into a life and death situation then sadly it's save your own women and kids first then worry about other people

sad that we have the perception that todays society is so broken. personally if i were in that position an uninjured then i would do everything i possibly could to help as many others as i possibly could. im a big believer in that we are all equal (socially, culturally, ethnically)we are all skin bone blood and tissue and that those who are able to help should do anything they can to do so, however small the gesture. in the case of a sinking ship i would look to help women children and the elderly before thinking of getting my own arse outta there.

It's just a bloody shame they hadn't built it properly and used the correct recommended specifications in the first place - yes, made by men!

I'm afraid to say that when it comes to a situation like this its every man, woman and child for themselves - it's a disgrace really! As with most things in life, step back and take in the whole picture - let's get everyone on or off without killing people in the process!
