If you're on your own at a social and you're a man, it can be difficult to meet people. It's natural that people tend to stick together with people they know already. That's true in general. If you went to the pub on an ordinary night on your own, you wouldn't expect to join in everyone's conversations. However, if you just read the room, hang back a bit and look friendly, you will end up in conversation with people. A smile goes a long way. And if you're lucky, you might get a snog.
