The definition of 'Friendship'

There are many different versions of friendships and many different ways people can be friends to one another. It would seem that my interpretation is way off the mark in that I am lost in some other galaxy compared to every one else......

My question to you is, what constitutes friendship? Is there a difference between 'real friends' and 'just friends' ? What makes a 'Fab friend' compared to 'trye friend'? Are there lines that don't get crossed? Do you let people in to your vanilla lives, or keep them in the Fab world?

Do you seek acceptance for whom you are and what you like, or do you prefer to just get along with everyone because it's easier?

What to you is a 'true' friend in this scene?

To me, a true friend from fab land is one who I trust enough to cross over into my vanilla life. I've got a few true friends from fab ... no need for verifications when we meet, not always meeting for sex ... sometimes it's just lunch or a chat, but always with a relaxed approach to each other's adventures and experiences.

This, simple things that just work easily. It maybe a week or a year but it always feels like a few hours since you last saw each other. I have very few 'friends' from Fab now but the few I have are long term. There's also the group of people you simply get along with for an easy life, that's called maturity & negativity takes up valuable head space at my age X

Friendship means always being there for them through the good and the bad.

You can go weeks without chatting to them but when you do its like you've never been apart.

Friendship means never causing that person pain or harm.

Friendship means when you are feeling alone you never really are. You will travel miles for each other. When they are in pain so are you as you feel what they are feeling and you want to do everything in your power to help them.

Friendship is trust.

Friendship is not one big thing, its millions of little things.

For us we have hundreds of friends/acquaintances all over the world that we try to keep in touch with but we can count on both hands how many solid real friends who have/would do absolutely anything for you in your real hour of need, these people are amazingly generous people we are honoured to call friends.

On to fab we have been on the scene long enough and witnessed some truly shocking behaviour within the pack mentality, we have pretty much kept ourselves to ourselves, we have been to the local club and big socials and seen people happily chatting and then they move on to talk to someone else and the daggers come out behind there backs.. people watching is a great skill we have picked up over the years so no we don't have fab friends although there are some great people within the scene.

Wowzer! Now that is how you do a good honest post. I agree with the shocking behaviour, pack mentality and daggers because have witnessed that. Can add double standards to that list.

I came into Wales forum for an entirely different reason, but only yesterday I was discussing with people on here what is the definition of friendship and what are the chances of that... seeing this thread. However...

Having been on the scene for years I have many good friends with real substance all over the UK. We have shared happy memories on and off Fab. I absolutely love this site

The good is far greater and outweighs the negative side of things so Fab is still the only site I am on and I recommend it.

Let the good times roll, everyone!

It would seem then that there are a variety of different ways people can be friends. Being friendly with someone doesn't make you friends I guess but it helps everyone get along and I can see the value in that.

My problem is that I don't have a lot of free time and so connections I make tend to be with people from the scene and I confuse friendliness with friendship. Gets me in a load of trouble when I'm thinking that someone is looking out for me as a friend like I do them but actually they are only being friendly or taking the path of least resistance.

It's a strange one and not one I can get my head around very well. I think I should just stick with the friendly approach and make the best of that.

Maybe we look into it a little too deep but true real friends are rare and it's loads of little things that build up to that certain bond... acquaintances are people we'd happily sit down with for a chat/drink when we bump into them.

Rightly or wrongly that's just our take on it.

I agree with several of the comments. It took me a long time to work out who the 'real and true' friends are on fab and by now, they are just a handful but are people I can turn to with a problem or when I have a bad day. These guys have seen me through some tough times and several sleepless nights. But then I have non-fabbing friends too who I can turn to-not an easy one to work out-best of luck X

This thread probably hasn't helped me in terms of people wanting to be friends with me and that's okay. I try to be friendly with everyone I meet and I will still do socials and be me and people will either be friendly or avoid me like the plague. Thing is I can only do me, I am the same in the Fab scene as I am in the vanilla world. I am one and the same and I think I have identified that others prefer to keep a difference which is why I seem to have difficulty with.

Breadcrumbing isn't helpful either and I'm realising that it's a tactic people use whether they mean to or not.

Neath

I see friendship as a two way thing for sure. We met some friends back in July in a club and they are very much in our vanilla lives to. We're extremely lucky.

Friendship means different things to different people I guess.

Near a tree by a river

I tell people that I don’t like that I don’t like them, it’s called truth.

I block people that meet people that I believe to be dispicable, it’s called morality, even if it’s my own morality.

Not one person on Fab is my friend, I don’t go pissing competitions.
