Only been past it (a gazillion times), but it’s in the heart of the Beacons. It’s not far from the most used route up Pen-y-Fan, but if you like walking I’d head to quieter spots!

brecon

Only ever been into the bar area, never been tempted to book a room as it's too far out from anywhere for us. Fine if you just want to lounge around and chill, otherwise you will get bored quickly.

Thanks guys, and yeah we know where it is (Mr is from Wales originally)

Looking forward to the spa & food as that's what's had the good reviews. Just wasn't too sure about the accommodation, but looking forward to a nice, chilled break ! x

We booked a room for the day for some playtime....

Tbh we were disappointed with the room...it was tired and in need of modernisation plus the bathroom was awful.

Could have been a one off i guess. Surrounding area is awesome x hope u have a great time

Book a room riverside upstairs, these are the most updated rooms and little noise from road, if weather is good take some bug spray, loads of midges due to being next to stream, food is excellent, my fav is pork loin in peppercorn sauce, yummy

BANGOR

Many years ago and it was a nice place, good food, friendly staff and good facilities. Wouldn't hesitate to book again if we needed to stay in the Merthyr area.

Aberdare

Your better off going into aberdare. There's a top notch hotel there called The Marquis. I stayed there a few times . Best I've been too. The rooms have been refurbished to a very high standard

Took my ex partner there a few years ago for her birthday! It was one of our first trips away as a couple and she didn’t disappoint! Bag full of lingerie and toys that were explored all weekend! Lovely surroundings and hotel didn’t disappoint either! On the way from the car to check in we heard another couple (the woman especially) enjoying herself as the windows were open hope you enjoy half as much as I did haha
