It's quite a popular thing. Unfortunately, as some do (particularly younger women) they undertake this with little regard of consequences - because they want to belong to someone/something. Trouble is, unlike a tattoo, not so easy to remove or redo.

Not to mention a lot more painful and more risk of infection etc.

But, in other ways, some find it a very fulfilling experience.

Probably a little too in-depth/boring a reply, but there you go

I’ve seen some beautiful scarification, patterns & flowers, I like how they heal. I feel everyone has tattoos right now, it’s more of a novelty not to have a tattoo. I did look into this but there were no places in wales when I looked, I did watch it in a Manchester parlour, so much blood. But still a thing I would do. Well want to do, just not brave enough, I’m more of a wall flower than wild flower. I will stick to just haveing my ears pierced, I’m running out of ear space though, I have 11

I have a few scarifications, an endorphin molecule and a mouse done with strike branding, a maze pattern done with a violet wand, and a small cutting. Had them done 2-3 years ago and have faded quite a bit now and are hardly noticeable now. They are very clean with little chance of infections as the heat sterilizes it. Not very painful at the time as the heat instantly kills the nerve endings, and the healing pricess gives a nice clean sharp pain.
