Right as you all know we organise the singles social.

I've had numerous messages regarding if people can attend.

How does everyone feel if we opened it up to 10 couples who have singles profiles or play separate???

We are not looking to open it to all Couples.

There would be a limit of 10 spaces and its first come first served.

This isn't set in stone and its just a idea.

I think it should be left as it is just for singles. It is the only singles social in Wales after all.

Couples can go to all the others socials whilst most set a limit on single guys.

No they aren't. Single is no spouse, gf ,bf or partner with of without a couples profile.

Try telling some of the couples on here that a married guy with a single profile is a single guy.

That's the fault of the married guy being deceitful and devious and disingenuine about the nature of themselves. However when it is blatantly obvious that a married couple who never play together on Fab, who only ever meet on their own single accounts separately and individually from each other, in Fab terms they are single Fabbers... Irrespective of their vanilla status.

I only have a couple profile now, too scared to have a single one anymore, but I very much meet alone most of the time. I think that makes me a part time single. Who cares if a couple are married, living together or whatever, if they genuinely meet as singles surely they meet the criteria. I agree with the knit though because as we all know, some couples say they met separately but they really don't, not that I'm judging in anyway, it's just an observation X

Personally I don't really mind who is there....as long as they are nice people.... I just enjoy the social aspect of the site and meeting old and new friends is always good in my eyes.

We all know that lots of *singles* put their names down for this event but often don't show and often don't even message to say they are not attending

I say yes to the marrieds/partnered up who only ever play separately, where it can be easily confirmed that they are married/co-habiting. If they play together on Fab, then no.

This sounds so backwards to how things usually are where you have to prove that they are actually a real couple for meets

Although there are many genuine couples who play singly, I think if you do open it up to them you have created a "grey" area and you will get grief from others.

Better to keep it as it is, otherwise you might find the criteria as to who you allow in will creep wider and wider over time.

I held a singles only social in Glasgow and they really appreciated it. Everyone was in the same boat then. Some knew other singles and some didn’t but we had a couple of icebreakers to help everyone mix.

I’m interested in what comments you receive about couples playing as singles.

I only play single but havent attended as didn't think I'd be excepted as Im married, I class myself as single on this website. I would like to attend if it's agreed thst couples who play single can go x

Thanks for all the replies.

As with everything in life the times change.

We have noticed a increase of a lot of couples now having their own single profiles and playing on their own.

We are not looking at making it a big social at all and the numbers would be limited.

It will be a equivalent of 10 couples so 20 active single profiles as a lot won't turn up with their spouse

Perhaps you could implement it that only one half of a couple can be at any one event. They can sort it out internally to themselves which one goes.

Obviously if they both have singles profiles.

Got to say, I agree with _thwalescpl on this.

I m married, and we have a couples profile

But Mr rarely plays these days and i meet as a 'single' through this profile when the mood takes me.

So you'd think I'd be in favour! But there are plenty of socials going so why muddy the waters and risk hassle and complaints from people by relaxing the rules of this one?

I say keep it as it is .... fantastic! Xx

If this were a dating site I’d agree, maybe keep it to singles for singles night but I think that given pretty much MOST of us aren’t ever intending on finding our significant other/marriage on one of these evenings (I mean it’s still FAB right!) why not! I like the idea that one half of the couple can come but not both, it kinda gently forces them to be more sociable without hiding behind their more chatty other half (come on most couples have one that do the majority of the socialising and a ‘quieter one’ with the few exceptions). I’ll wait for the crap to hit the fan and the abuse to be hurled now for what I’ve said about meeting a significant other, especially as I did once meet a significant other for a period of time from this site, BUT my point was, how many meet on this one particular evening? If a relationship/marriage is to be formed its over time anyway and a few extra people being there won’t hinder this anyway :p. So to sum up my massive post (sorry) I think it’s a good idea, the more the merrier, but then I’d enjoy myself with the usual suspects anyway as we always have a laugh

Either way, whatever you decide to do OP just keep doing it, your hard work isn’t recognised nearly enough, THANK YOU for putting up with all the shit you do just to give us all a fun night out mwah xx

Personally, single profiles or not. They’re not single. rule of “as long as you don’t live together” is fine.

I think the singles social is fine as it is. It’s a good chance for people who are less established on fab, or like myself nervous of situations like a social, to be able to come and meet new people without wondering about dynamics. Couples can go to the bigger socials, this one is also a chance for those who aren’t verified to meet people and I think it getting bigger and adding couples could put people off.

But as others have said, you run it so it’s your choice

My husband and I both have seperate profiles, we do not play together on here. OP I'd be thrilled if we were allowed to attend as seperate people. I could come with my friends then.x

I hardly think 10 more people is bigger and I also think the fact one half of a couple is there as a single suggests you have nothing to worry about in the dynamics..

There are also singles who are well established in the community, having been around a few years, how many socials have you been to to be able to compare them?

Your opinion of course counts and I appreciate you wish to keep it singles and should count, but I can’t help thinking your arguments are showing a tad wet behind the ears.. I look forward to meeting you Friday, hopefully a few of us can catch you up to speed a little

Out of interest can I ask how many of these you’ve been to? I’ve only been to one and I can honestly say, ignore the forums, most single men don’t turn up, lots of socials are actually female top heavy (pun/no pun intended :p)

Wow thanks for all the replies regarding this.

The idea was to allow a maximum of 10 couples(either on their own or with their partners) who have active single profiles online.

As with everything in life things change and I've noticed a increase of couples using their single profiles a hell of a lot more than they use their couples one.

I've been running this for nearly 4 years And think it's time to give it a bit of a change.

I'm not looking at doing a bigger social as Newport has a fantastic one and they do a great job.

It's also not about making numbers up as this social does ok.

I also know that 80 men could have their names down and only 10 will turn up as that's shown in previous socials which is so annoying but that's the joy of organising something.

I've asked for opinions and I'm very grateful for them.

I know I'm not going to please everyone as its impossible and I definitely don't want to upset or offend anyone.

So I've now decided to let 10 couples who have singles profiles to attend the social. It will be on a first come first served basis. Let's have a great night

I’ve been on fab over 5 years. But sure. Not going to socials makes me wet behind the ears

It’s irrelevant now as the decisions been made, but if you read what I wrote, I was talking in regards to the socials, that’s what gave you away

had you ever been you’d know hardly ever any single blokes turn up etc, maybe worth you re reading lovely xx
