They held their wedding party in the club, and because there was loads of chat about it on various forums in the lead-up, the press figured out where and when, and outed them in the papers, face pics and names.

Well I know the forums are open and I'm always so careful. But don't we have rights with regards to personal details and pictures etc.what we do here are our own private decisions . Pisses me off . Also people who dont know/understsnd think we are all some sort of mental freaks. When in reality we are just a bunch of kinky fucks who like sex alot. Also call me stupid but why do the forums have to remain public when things like this happen. Can't they be changed? Or is there a reason for it? Xxmiss

Anything that you may write, post or do on the Web is liable to be picked up, reused, reinterpreted etc.

If you're not prepared for someone to possibly use your info, then don't put anything up.

And that Sydney University stuff is as useful as a chocolate teapot

There has to be some sort of lure, some sort of pull for the non-members to see that it isn't all fake profiles and bots on the site. That plus the lure of the thumbnail sized profile pics that are in every post to make people want to see them full sized (making them pay to join etc).....

It's a marketing technique. It's up to the users to self-police. People get too comfortable thinking that they are safe behind the forum walls of the website but they aren't, the forums are one of the tools to show that members exist and members meet etc.

Could be wrong mind you but that's what I think. I also think it was a very shitty thing to happen to the couple in the OP's post but for as long as sex sells and as long as sex is generally taboo then it will always be a risk.

A chocolate tea pot. Love it! Very true though, you can't always hide behind computer screen and it's very easy to find some people out
