Newport music bars ?

So I'm heading to the Port for some leaving do drinks and a change of scenery this afternoon/evening. Will no doubt be bored come 8pm - local knowledge needed on anywhere good for a decent band and a boogie ? Vanilla evening planned as I have to get the last train east.

Go to Le Pub..in high st few bars around n v near station.

Cheers but its all change now and were hitting Cardiff as a surprise later instead. Is there still a shirt trousers and tie policy there ? lol
