First social - any tips?

So we are attending our first ever social in Newport on 19th Dec and are really excited, but the nerves are creeping in! Any tips to help the nerves and have the best experience from those who have done it before?

If your talking about the Social on the 9th, just go along and enjoy yourself. It's just a normal night out with lots of folk having fun.

Everyone that attends are great and very friendly. A good few of us meet up in the afternoon for a few pints and something to eat. That's always a good ice breaker.

Hi guy's, to go with a cpl on your first social is good but remember it is a social, so try and mingle for a bit as it is a great place to meet like wise ppl and catch up with your freinds later, im sure they will understand lol as they r a realy nice freindly lot down there and enjoy xx

When you meet everybody, try to stop thinking about their photos on here. It can be off putting to talk normally in public when you have naughty pics in your mind.

Socials are great, good chance to put faces to names, and make some good friends.

Remember to mingle, just go round and dive into groups, introduce yourselves, get about and chat to as many people as possible.

Everyone is new at the beginning, just mail a few that are going and hook up for pre-social drinkies, then you will have somebody to walk in with.

We would offer, but due to Jaynes work, we wont get down until a bit later than most, but there are a good crowd going, I'm sure you will find some willing volunteers lol... we will look for you... erm, except we don't know what you look like lol!

I’m also a bit nervous, hoping a friend will come with me so I don’t walk in alone. Have been to lots of socials before but under my previous username and not for a couple of years now! Always enjoyed those and my last one was Newport also, and it was an awesome night, loads of lovely welcoming people

This will be our first social too .... have to say the thought is quite intimidating ..... we arent super models

Still weve been planning to go to one for ages had to cancel the last one so ....nervous excitement is where we're at now

The Newport social a couple of years ago was our first organised group social. Even though we arrived a little later into the evening, when people had settled into groups, we were still made to feel welcome and invited to join some groups.

As others have suggested, contact some of the profiles on the list and say hi. Wear something distinctive on the night and let people know in advance what that will be so they can find you. Above all, just have fun and try and start some conversations

Its no different to going to a busy pub in a strange town.

If you are outgoing and like chatting to new people then thats all it is.

Go to the bar buy a drink and enjoy.
