Been painting the dining room now for The last 3 days and I've had a titful of it... And I'm still not finished three of the walls want a third coat of paint and there's the gloss to be done

What's your most boring job around the house

And

How the fuck do painters carry on with it without topping themselves

I'm a building contractor and do most aspects regarding construction BUT I'm with you on decorating, omg the prep work is so tedious and boring. I think decorators have a total different mindset and are prob very calm people

We have been doing up our new house for 3 months, from ripping the whole bathroom out and replacing with a walk in shower and tiling floor to ceiling etc to changing door handles on every door and every job inbetween for pretty much every room.

Had a tit full is an understatement, but the light at the end of the tunnel is shining through.

So basically I/We hate any form of diy at the moment.

I lay parquet floors for a living and have had the pleasure of meeting many painters!! my best word to describe them is crazy. Although once you get into it like flooring it becomes quite calming and also very rewarding x

There is a joke in the building trade that a decorator suffers from "painters syndrome".. they have an irresistible urge to talk to you non-stop when they see you, comes from working on their own so much, when they see another human they just want to talk lol

I wonder if when they qualify as a painter part of the diploma includes the Samaritans phone number

I spend a lot of time painting and the key is to learn to shut your mind off and let it drift. I don't think it's something that's suited to everyone but I find it really calming.

Jamo this is not related to the thread but do you know where I could find some 1950s oak parquet by any chance? Its an odd measurement. 10" by 2" hard to find. Looking for someone to lay it too.

I’ve recently finished my dining room and that took nearly 10 litres of bloody paint!! That was tedious!!! The job I hate the most (well, both me and M) is the dishes!

It's finished. At last and thank fuck, I never want to see another paint brush ever again.

Now to move all the furniture back and put up new lighting
