Unfortunately there are too many on here. Needs to be addressed or site will find lots of people, including me, leaving.

You someone doesn't turn up for an arranged meet you can report the profile as a time waster. Thing is it's hard to prove if messages to arrange the meet aren't done through fab. As the process could be abused. Hence why naming and shaming isn't allowed.

If you did all your homework, spoke to them checked the veries etc you just have to say "it is what it is" and move on.

They've won if they can see your thread saying you're pissed off as it's what they want.

Unfortunately even that isn't always a full proof plan.

I agree, there's no such thing as foolproof with anything in life.

All you can do is eliminate as many possible things that can go wrong.

I was just trying to say that if the people genuinely tricked him they'll love seeing it's got to him

Unfortunately the best advice we can give is what most would say.

Report, block and move on and forget about them, it won't make you feel any better but it's about all you can do.

So sorry to hear this. Basic rule I follow is Don’t go over and above for people you don’t know.

Even if you’ve been chatting for a while. Unless you “know” them, and have met them, always take what they say with a huge pinch of salt.

Everyone has to prove themselves to me. That’s not because I think I’m above it, it’s because time has taught me that behind the nice messages, smiles and pleasantries, lies a world of bullshit and bitching!

Yes I think meeting people in real life either at a social or just for tea allows you to contextualise them, you can tell pretty easily if they're serious, a fantasist, loopy or just out of your league. If they are sincerely interested that's when wine and long journeys become appropriate in my opinion. Am so sorry though to hear of your experience though, sadly we've all been there.

Our timewaster episode was made worse by the fact it was going to be our first full time with another man joining us. That's a big move for newbies like us, as you'll appreciate.

We booked the hotel room, arranged the babysitter, got dressed up... all the time as nervous as hell, and then he didn't turn up, or even warn us he wasn't going to turn up.

A week or so later we get the predictable apology and excuse.

Unbelievable. Why verbally commit to something if there's no intention of following through? In your particular case, an enormous waste of time, planning and money hope you at least made the most of your time alone
