"I know little about politics and have little interest in the specifics!! However, generally speaking, is it only me that has noticed that Wales is frequently 'left out' during National broadcasting?? I know that the SNP is a massive, decisive factor, a lot more influential than Plaid Cymru, BUT it really annoys me that SNP is listed on the political results graph and our main regional party - Plaid Cymru is listed under "other" It's also the same with the Weather and other major Broadcasting events, it's like we don't exist. We are the smallest Country within the UK, but that doesn't make us any less significant. We ARE part of the UK too. People seem to forget that. #Annoyed " We are actuality bigger than Northern Ireland. We're on c. 2.7 million and they're on 1.75. Though we get way less coverage. Yep we're treated like a large English county rather than a country. Shocking. Xxx

We don't refer to England as Angleland. Johnny Saxon needs to be more inclusive. X

People seem to forget that. #Annoyed " I used to feel loads of resentment when young around sport - I used to watch Football Focus and there'd be loads on England and "the home nations" would get a mention near the end. Same with the national newspapers. I felt like a foreigner in my own country when Wales v England games were on. However - the complicating factor is that we have a BBC Wales etc. There was loads of coverage of the election solely based on Wales last night. Same with the radio. I agree that the print media is under-developed in Wales and pretty lame, but there are papers just for and about Wales. Given this "devolution" of media to Wales etc, I think it's pretty understandable that a London/Manchester based media focuses more on its "largest market". Personally, I think you could argue that it's actually the English that are least well served in this - in some ways, it's be fairer if there was a genuine BBC England that could focus solely on them in the run-up to big sports games, political events etc. Instead they have a media that has to make some effort to reflect the other constituent parts of the UK. It all stems from the rather unique political arrangement we have in the UK. I actually think it has caused some kind of backlash and is one of the factors behind the growth of English nationalism in the last 20 odd years. Tbh, I think Wales does pretty well in the media and we can sound a bit chippy when talking about perceived imbalances these days (not this thread of course!).
