I take it loosley to mean someone with a job which they probably needed a degree to get

Maybe like a solicitor, doctor, teacher etc.

Then again it could just mean some jumped up cunt in a cheap suit

Why all the criticism of what people include in their criteria for a meet ? Surely it's up to them what they put in their profiles. If you don't "approve " of it, move on. Sorry just don't understand this nastiness.

I don't it's that people don't approve

Just it seems to be a term that means different things to different people and seems to have no deinitive meaning on Fab at least

Which kind of makes it a bit pointless really

I think it is pretty obvious what people using the term in their profiles are referring to and for those who are making out that they have no idea perhaps googling the word or looking it up in a dictionary might help them, I would suggest that fabbers using the term are simply making it clear what / who they are looking for so as not to waste peoples time, why ridicule them for that ?

The site is dotted with people saying they are professionals when they can't possibly. Which is pretty laughable, personally (in spite of being a professional myself) I wouldnt necessarily seek out professionals to meet.

That being said, it's a good indication I'll share a connection on an intellectual mindful level which would lead to a more rewarding encounter.

I'll say this, the site users are immensely judgemental at times. Ironic for a site that caters for a sexual subculture.

Reading people mocking others for their personal tastes and nit picking over it makes for a bad impression.

Who is anyone to sit in judgement of another persons' preferences. It almost feels like some peopme see this as a pick and mix meat wagon free for all where no persons genitals should be off limits for them.

That there lies the problem.... people using the term when it does not apply to them

Which in turn makes it pretty pointless

And that is in no way mocking anyone....just a mere observation from over the years

People on Fab claiming to be something they're not....who'd have thought it, aye??

And I think that is probably a rough reason why people were taking the piss

I don't think anyone really gives a fuck if certain members only want to meet others who occupy certain job roles

It's just the fact that so many have taken the term and used it to mean something different or just used it to try and make themselves seem more appealing that is the grounds for the pisstaking

Anyone can put professional on their profile....it's meaningless

Short of asking them to post proof of employment or maybe proof of qualification I guess you just have to take people's word for it and risk them being full of shit

I'm a professional and worked bloody hard to get my qualification and job which is why I can't really put much on my page however after some meaningful dialogue and trust I'm happy to tell people what I do. It doesn't make me better than anyone else. I have a type too and it's usually someone who is sparky, but bright and can hold a stimulating conversation body size/shape doesn't matter. They don't have to be a professional but they have to tick those boxes. I use the word professional hoping that the reader will appreciate that I have a need to be discreet and that's because my career could be severely damaged if I'm not discreet. Professional does not mean married. I still have sexual appetites as much as everyone else.

It's a secret code word to others in the same secret club. If you then take the first letter of the next 10 to 30 words, it can be decrypted using the secret code they have to learn in order to qualify as a professional. The unencrypted message is then relayed onto others and actions are taken.

I think that's what it means, anyway. Either that or they've seen it mentioned on other profiles and thought it cool.

Yes , I can fully accept that it may be meaningless to you but it's not to me and I suggest not to others, i use for a reason, and the issue I have and the argument I make is the way some on the forum amuse themselves by ridiculing those that choose to use the term, why slag them off ? Can you imagine what a fabber using the word on their profile must think if they just happen to read this post and some of the comments made.

Some people who have job which is termed as a professional occupation are governed by professional codes of conduct.

They maybe using the term professional on their profile to attract people who also have similar jobs?

Too be fair I'm in a clique of one, agreement with a post doesn't mean they're a friend, an acquaintance, that we've chatted or even met; likewise a disagreement. Cliques exist everywhere that human beings are because they are a social norm, how you react to or interact with people who fail to subscribe to your view is what matters & I'm still at a loss as to what you need support with. In real life do you require support from friends when a person doesn't agree with a comment you've made. Maybe I'm missing a point here but I was brought up to believe I was entitled to express my view & at no point has anyone on this thread been rude or humiliating, there is some light hearted banter & yes, some people don't get banter but that lack of understanding shouldn't require support.

"You would be surprised at the number of supportive private messages I have had in relation to my comments on this thread, - Yes everybody is entitled to their opinion but it doesn't seem that I can have one without being shot down by the clique that seems to exist on this forum. Who seem to get their kicks from belittling others. Rubbishing their views with sarcastic comments. Carry on guys you are spoiling the site for many. Happy fabbing x

The fact so few post on the Welsh forum would indicate you might have a valid point.

Just keep smiling.

Thank you very much we appreciate your comment xx

As said before just keep smiling, for what it's worth pretty much everyone we know in this crazy scene stay well away from the welsh forum due to the way it is."

I read far more scathing responses in other forums & no one takes offence, they all join in, I can signpost you to many such threads right this moment but I truly can't be arsed X

"Some people who have job which is termed as a professional occupation are governed by professional codes of conduct.

They maybe using the term professional on their profile to attract people who also have similar jobs?

I don't know but that's what I think when I read that on a profile "

Totally agree, perfectly acceptable criteria to put on ones profile. Yet we get ridiculed for it.

Maybe I'm missing a point here but I was brought up to believe I was entitled to express my view & at no point has anyone on this thread been rude or humiliating, there is some light hearted banter & yes, some people don't get banter but that lack of understanding shouldn't require support."

Not rude or humiliating ? Can I just point out that I am not a professional shagger, neither myself or my partner are escorts. My partner is not a prostitute, I am not a jumped up c##$ and I don't wear cheap suits, neither do I wipe my knob in the curtains, ladtly i don't consider myself to be a bourgeois prick. You may be happy to class this as light hearted banter, some of the feedback on here and certainly that which i have recieved through private messages is at at odds with your definition of light hearted banter and certainly explains why people keep away from this forum.
