Seens as Gatland is announcing his touring squad at midday I have neard so many rumours over the past 24 hours

Roberts in?? Jonathan Joseph (amongst others I thought would be sure test starters) out??

Then someone telling me Liam Williams is being left out aswell....surely not??

No doubt we all have our views on who should and shouldn't tour and I love a good rugby discussion

Jamie Roberts is a couple of years passed it. Would be a shock if Joseph doesn't go. Liam Williams will definitely go as he is a useful utility player.

My team would be

Hogg

Watson

Henshaw

Farrell

North

Sexton

Murphy

Faletau

Tipuric

Cj stander

Launchbury

AWJ - Captain

Furlong

Owens

Vunipola

Just my opinion!

I've seen quite a few links to say Launchbery won't even go

One of the best players of the 6 nations but in fairness the 2nd row is one of the most competitive for places. Glad I'm not a selector!!!

Roberts going is an absolute joke. Be lucky to play 10 minutes in 10 games

It's the biggest leak since my boiler burst.

Full team on net. Coaches met yesterday to discus squad.

As far as Roberts being in goes, old heads are always good for the young pretenders to bounce off,not saying he'll play in any of the tests but he will bring the starters up to their best.

With the schedule of games in front of them it won't matter what side he picks, they will all be shot to bits by the time they get to play the all blacks

Have to agree, it's not only about the players on the park it's the guiding hand on the youngsters back. Jamie is Respected around the World, plus he can still play. On balance we (Wales) have had better representation than expected, to be fair.

Great to see moriarty picked he was one of the form players of 6 nations. Personally would have taken launchbury over lawes

And being a Ospreys fan great to see biggar selected which also means Sam Davies will get a good chance in a Welsh shirt on their tour

No Roberts after all. But I think a very good squad on the whole. If all concerned play to their abilities, there should be some interesting encounters.

There will be some disappointed Scots after such a brilliant Six Nations for them. Only 2 picks for the lions. Who was Gatland watching in the six nations?

"There will be some disappointed Scots after such a brilliant Six Nations for them. Only 2 picks for the lions. Who was Gatland watching in the six nations? "

He watched them capitulate against England.

In fairness, I think a few Welsh benefitted from Gatland's knowledge of them.

We all know Gatland is a conservative coach who values defensively strong players - that's why Biggar is there and Scots who proved flaky under pressure like Russell aren't.

Also, you can't underestimate how short a time he has to put a game-plan together - he obviously wants the players most likely to get to grips with it quickly.

It might seem like bias, but the test side may well only have 2 Welsh in.

Biggar had to go ahead of Russell

As you say physicallity and defence are key against the All Blacks and they will likely target Sexton (as everyone seems to poor boy).

I am glad Hartley was left out. His attitude and behaviour is no example to anyone and he can only blame himself

I got a call from Gats 24hours before Lions team was announced. He sounded me out, but it's he summer right and I got so many jobs to catch up on in the garden, I had to decline his offer to go on the tour. In fairness, grumpy Gats understood and explained that's why he is taking so many coaches so he can pop over to his house to lay a new lawn...Perks of the job I suppose!!!!!

As an Englishman I am actually really happy with the squad (and didn't even bitch too much about the Welsh players ??), good bit of experience and some exciting players too, mind you I do feel for Launchbury as he had an outstanding 6 nations, as for Hartley he's not even England's best hooker ??

Bring on June 3rd as I cannot wait!

As much as I hate to admit it,there isn't 15 men good enough in world rugby to beat an on form All Blacks at this moment in time.

But I do prey for an off day.

I'll sit on Mike Brown's face if we do. It's not something I'd relish, but he'd hate it way more, so I'd go with it.

Actually, I don't think 2-1 Lions is impossible.

There's a very good chance Launchbury will get there as a replacement. I don't know any Wales fans who don't feel for him.

I'd have taken him over Lawes

2-1 is far from impossible

And no I'm not by any means underestimating the All Blacks before some know it all tells me to shut my mouth because I can't possibly have a clue because I have a vagina

I just believe they will do it

I think they'll win a test - think it'll be 2-1 NZ though. I think it may take them getting hold of that cloak of invisibility Richie McCaw had though. Particularly the one the one from the 2011 WC Final that worked so well with Joubert.

At the risk of sounding like a white knight or whatever the daft term is right now - social media has been full of people with penises spouting nonsense about the Lions.

These days, I respect anyone from the "Rugby Mad Welsh Public" (yeah, right!) of either sex who doesn't think the season starts in Feb and ends in March. Including Ospreys fans.
