Severe PMT....help ladies please!!

I know I've posted about this a long time ago but it's getting worse.

From the day I ovulate til the last couple of days of my period I suffer from really bad bouts of extreme tearfulness, anxiety, anger and paranoia and it's starting to really have a negative effect on my life.

I know my behaviour is illogical but there is nothing I can do to stop the way I am feeling and it makes normal every day life a real effort.

I only have about a week and a half a month where I actually feel like my normal self.

I exercise at least 4 times a week, have lost a lot of weight recently, cut right back on the drink and given up smoking so if anything I should be feeling tip top.

I don't know if it's my age or what??

Any advice would be gratefully received xx

A friend of mine suffered like this for over two yrs it turned out she had a hormone imbalance it took two blood tests for the doctor to find out, maybe you should ask about it or if you have a good family planning clinic near you go there and speak to them they should be able to help you xx

It is 100% related to my cycle/hormones somehow as opposed to general depression/anxiety which I have suffered with in the past because otherwise I wouldn't have the week and a half where I feel fine.

Thankyou ladies I just feel as if I'd be fussing about nothing by going to the doctors but I will at least ring them on Monday as it's starting to fuck me off now.

I can feel it coming on the past few days and I just want to cry as I know I have to put up with it for at least the next fortnight now xx

I had mine at 30 but I'm guessing you need a medical reason, like Lush said go to the Dr & keep on going until it's sorted. Sometimes you have to be real pushy for them to listen properly, plus there's so many things that could help it takes a bit of trial & error X

Get to the docs missp I've suffered depression for years only just now slowly coming out of it i hope. I also been getting very teary for no reason the last couple of weeks. Have had loads of tests.. have found I have very high testostone levels. And that maybe the problem.. but get to doctors first and go from there..xx

It's ideally one of 2 things people...

Many have said a hormone on balance which It could well be especially the change in lifestyle your currently having going through.

The other possibility is an underachievement or overactive thyroid...

Possible remedies .....

Doctors / fp clinic where you will have to fight for something

Try Holland and Barrett or boots where they could recommend a natural treatment

Or you could self medicate with a decent multi vitamin...

It could also be body delay especially if it's only been noticeable since you started on your health kick

I don't mind trying something herbal if it may help but don't want or need anti depressants per se as I am not depressed, altho it does feel like it for certain days during that 2 and a half weeks, the fact that I always have a "normal" week and a half or so where I feel 100% fine.

I have always suffered with pmt for years but where as it used to be the classic week leading up to coming on which I could put up with, now it's over taking the good days and thats whats bugging me

Uptown Top Ranking

A very good friend of mine is a medical herbalist. He works independently and also in a health food shop/complimentary medicine place in Carmarthen.

He gave me some brilliant advice and suggestions of things that may help when I was going through something similar.

Thankfully I no longer have a playpen so no monthlies for me for a very long time lol.... give me a bell and I'll let you know who he is x

The wife suffers similar to this Miss P however for shorter periods. Strangely enough she has gone through the menopause but the tearfulness and downward spiral in her moods are definitely cyclical as they were before menopause. I prescribe my wife lots of love and cwtches, it seems to help although I'm sure she would say I should cwtch her even more. So my answer would be find yourself a good man to smother you with love but maybe that's too simplistic. Good luck with it anyway hope you find the answers x

"Definitely go see the your gp. A mirena coil is fantastic for this sort of thing! Other options also available... "

I had a mirena coil removed in January after bleeding solid for 8 weeks

Fuck anyone who encourages women into the Mirena (without warning of the potential problems it can cause) as it makes a lot of women's lives a total misery, as I found out

I suffered with really bad PMT - wanted to go over a cliff or maim my nearest and dearest

I have a great GP so when he suggested that I take Prozac 10 days a month linked to my cycle I decided to give it a go. I was wary going on an anti depressant medication but he assured me that it had been found to be a 'side effect' for the drug.

It worked ! I might have 1/2 days where I feel a little teary but compared to before its been brilliant

Might not suit everyone but perhaps worth a discuss with your GP

Have you tried taking evening primrose tablets? An ex of mine used them seemed to work, she used to get them on prescription so worth speaking to your GP.

I have group chats with family and I simply say don't readd me until I ask and leave

They know it's for their own good as my mouth is evil and I will argue and say horrible things

I'm the first to admit I have a very nasty mouth when I'm in a mood and pmt is a c**t I can't control it

I want to hurt people
