Finding this a debatable topic of conversation with N atm but my question is - are Jaffa cakes a cake or a biscuit ?

Stocked in the biscuit isle but my thoughts are that they are a cake surely, as biscuits are hard for you to dunk in your cuppa yet Jaffa cakes the only so called 'biscuit' that is soft

BRIDGEND

Mcvities won a court case in 1991 to classify them as a cake. Simply because they become exempt from biscuit tax.

Partly because of the court case. But also apparently they go hard like a cake does if left.. where as biscuits go soft..

Also, when I open a packet I do find I have to eat the whole lot at one sitting. One, because of the 'drying' problem and two, if I leave a half eaten packet then the rats will get them....well the kids but its the same thing only they don't shit in the cupboard when they have finished.

In 1991 it's was ruled that they were cake not buscuits (VAT payable)

mcvities weren't happy with that!

(It's also orange jam on top with a Genovese cake base)
