Just wanting some opinions and to get my frustration heard I guess as I'm sure (unfortunately) at some point this has happened to some of you....

How long is an appropriate time to wait after you've set a time to meet for a social?

For us it would be half an hour max.

If I was at a social and I'd heard nothing from the person I'm meeting I wouldn't wait longer than 30 minutes xxx

Half hour is about the longest you should have to wait without any contact

Thank you for your timely responses, much appreciated. Half hour is my usual but I have been guilty of hitting the 2 hour mark crazy I know

This, if they are in regular contact, running commentary on where they are and how long they will be, then more than 30 mins would be allowed, but silence would mean one drink and we are out of there.

30 minutes for me although I did wait over an hour once because the guy text to say he was close by & stuck in traffic. He knew I was waiting but text me after 90 mins to say he was turning round & wouldn't be coming. I don't even think he was on his way because I travelled back up the road he was on & surprise, no traffic

If no contact an hour before the social I'd be concerned and 30 mins would be max. If they can't be bothered to call before or turn up then you've had a lucky escape.

Respect costs nothing and we all deserve a little respect

I'd ring at 15 minutes. If they didn't respond I'd leave

One recent guy turned up late and I wasn't amused respect of one another's time is vastly underrated

Along with respect there is another point you have brought up there, cost. The wasted miles to a coffee shop, possibly parking then a cup of coffee while you wait all add up too. I don't have children however there are some that have to factor in child care on top of that, that works out to be a costly no show then

Also if your self employed is a big factor in financial loss of a no show
