Daytime? evening?

If evening I agree with nutty, in that you'll need to find a venue with accommodation nearby......and car parking!

Other than that.....great idea

It's a valid point I went with a female friend & it was a 3 hour round trip, loved the social but it was too far without accommodation X

In fairness. Pointy might be a good start. Very central to a lot of the Valleys.

What about on the edge of Merthyr, there a leisure park there, large pub, 10 pin bowling, harvester, McD's, Subway, Chinese, Frankie and wotsisface, and a Travelodge.

Or theres another location a little further away, big pub again, with I think its a premier Inn, next door.

If you do a hotel search on Trivago. There is a greater number showing in Aberdare than anywhere else .

Rosie here

I would willingly resurrect the 'Valleys social ' as the previous two went well. But the issue of people expecting to be able to stay overnight somewhere close by does limit options in the area. The places described by _thwalescpl are options .. if there are any private function rooms nearby. The numbers involved with an evening social preclude the option to mingle discreetly with the Jo Public in the main rooms in pubs .

Are you all sure though that we haven't got close to socials overload in South Wales?

More thoughts ....?

But have the pubs got private function rooms? Cos now they've been described so well in a public forum, you can't have 50 plus people 'discreetly partying in an open pub ... any odd bod could join in and cause problems ....!

Don't know if they're still here but there used to be a Merthyr couple with a near town centre pub. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I'm sure there would be somewhere suitable and it would be fantastic for those of us that are up this neck of the woods that can't for one reason or another get to the Newport or Swansea socials

We were friends, the pub owner stitched them up, and they moved up north.

The first social we went to in Cardiff was held in an open pub, it was ok, but Rosie is right, it wasn't good mixing swingers and vanillas. I guess if someone is going to organise one they need to keep the venue secret.. and not ask idiots like me to paint a roadmap directly to it lol.
