Apparently the wearing of a black ring on a finger of the right hand (other than the middle finger) is the sign of a swinger. How well known / recognised is this.

Any seceret sign, some people need to know, then everyone knows.

To what purpose would people wear seceret symbols, to be approach in the street, shop about their 'symbol'...

Only way you can tell a swinger in the supermarket, couple of boxes of condoms, batteries, beer/wine and lube....
