The entry in the Guide says "No lighting at night, so only people looking for action, lots of couples and single males."

I suppose that just proves how detrimental a bit of publicity can be.

A number of dogging sites were cruising sites long before doggers arrived.

There have been a number of incidents up and down the country of doggers being beaten up by gangs of gay bashers thinking they'd found a gay man out waiting for company.

A retired police officer was murdered in similar circumstances at a dogging site south of Glasgow a few years back.

There is an ulterior motive - police performance stats are compiled April to March to match the financial year. A big push every spring to caution doggers with public indecency gets the stats up, especially as all offences are cleared up without prosecution. Exactly the same reason why domestic violence incidents are recorded diligently as resolved if no further action taken.

Guess who used to work with the rozzers...
