Anyone watching the news about this business of injecting human cells into pig embryos to grow human organs inside pigs with the intention of later using them for transplant into human patients??

Opinions?? Xx

Oh wow

It seems slightly wrong

But if you had a choice of have an organ grown inside an animal or die I'm sure I'd rather live

I'm all for it tbh

10 years ago I would probably have said no

But having a child with a chronic genetic illness which currently has no cure I would back anything that aids medical advances and ultimately saves human lives

I've always said we fuck about with nature far too much

But now I have kids it's a different story. Obviously I would take anything that would help them.

Plus you could always nice bit of belly pork after the transplant

As long as the animals are being treated humanly while they're being grown then in all for it.

Pigs are wonderful things. Mostly edible, the parts that are not can be used to make leather, and even the fat is used in cosmetics, medicines and explosives.

Why not take it one stage further?

I think it can be a dangerous game going forward but can't see anyother way right now and as you say miss p--when you got kids that are unwell then we would accept anything to ease the suffering n pain!!-trully amazes me tho how amazing our advancements are yet pumped billions into cancer research and I've given every week to charity yet we're nowhere near as yet!!-fingers crossed all around

It's always made me wounder about pigs -

They're so genetically similar to us is that the reason why they taste so good?

I think it's perfectly understandable someone would be in favour, particularly if you had a loved one who could potentially benefit in the future.

I'm in favour because I hope to receive a 12" wang transplant in the coming years. I'm guessing that's a less acceptable reason for supporting this though
