People always piss themselves when i say that I'm scared of clowns (although they are scary as hell).

I also knew someone that was scared of bananas.

I was wondering what you lot were scared of?

Being scared of something is totally different to phobia, in the same way that being fed up is not depression,, phobia is a mental health condition,, if a spider would stop you rescuing a member of your family from harm then you've got a phobia, if not you just don't like them??

I hate heights, enclosed spaces, and, after nearly drowning as a kid in the sea, I aint too happy in water, plus I used to be afraid of being around people as I was bullied badly as a youngster, couldn't stand physical contact....

.

.

.

.

.

.

.... so I became a rock climbing instructor, a cave leader and a canoe/kayak instructor, and took up martial arts lol!

I hate being afraid, so I tackle these things head on, and I would encourage others to do the same, you can overcome your fears, and life is a lot better when you can.

While I can see your point I also disagree. My lettuce phobia I can touch it prepare it for others as long as I don't smell it. If I get it in my mouth I will vomit it and I break out in sweats till I've got rid of any trace of it. I've had nightmares about it too. But if one of my close family was gonna die if I didn't eat some I think I would push myself.

I think you've in a way proved my point. Maybe the close family example is a strong one, but if some thing has a deep rooted phsycosis then it's a phobia, lettuce is possible a different one but could be linked to choking?? This is actually a phobia and I applauded you and the rock climber for not pretending to have something they havnt xx
