I think Welshrabbits are doing it

It's not hard thou

Just find a quiet pub then get a list of people who want to attend

Just tell them the area

Time and then Few days before inbox people the location

There is a get together now and then in Swansea town centre but I'm sure no one would mind if you did another day social there or port talbot

Pick a day and time of month that will be favourable... a Saturday night after payday is perfect.

Scope out locations, ideally with parking and hotels close by.

Start small, better to have a small venue that's rammed to the rafters (figuratively, only allow as many people that the venue can hold), than a huge area with only a handful of people in... you can always move to a larger location if it takes off.

Talking of venue... once you have one in mind, visit it, and take the owner/manager to one side and tell him what type of group we are, and explain that there is a strict "no play" rule for socials... point out that its just a night out, not an orgy.

Why do this?

It stops anyone who may have a grudge from "outing" the group to the manager and getting cancelled on.

Check if the venue provide music etc, or if they have a list of DJ's that are suitable.... better still, hunt out a swinger who is a DJ who might be persuaded to do it for a reduced fee.

Once you have a date and location, advertise in the forums.

Make a door list, and have someone on the door to check it.

Maybe have a few reliable folks on hand to do shifts on the doors, stops the inevitable vanilla gatecrashers lol!

On the subject of door lists, run a reserves list when you have the required numbers for the venue, and expect drop outs, some of whom will not let you know... yes, shit happens, sometimes at short notice, and when its serious the last thing on someone's mind will be cancelling their place at a social, however, a retrospective apology wouldn't go amiss... (soz, bit of a tangental rant there lol).

And finally... no matter how well it goes, expect some to moan about some aspect (music crap/too loud/too quiet, not enough toilets/too many/too dirty/too busy, etc ad naseum!!)

Which is where a problem may unfortunately rear it's unfortunate head. All but those socials held in the Cities will only have just enough regular members to keep going and, most usually, when an alternative sets up local often BOTH then suffer and have been known to close.

It is very much a numbers games.

It's harder the it seems

Maybe just do a day one lol

Or midweek evening

It's quieter so you don't need to book a venue just find a quiet pub that sells food then go bigger if you want

Gloucester

Try and get a few of you together, it's much easier with a bit of a committee than doing it all on your own.

Lol it is easier

Plus you don't have to pay for anything so it's less stressful
