Wear your poppy with pride remember the fallen and also that your money helps veterans who are in any kind of difficulty. However beware spreading the rumours of shops banning the wearing of them it just isn't true! Mr W

Have any other fabbers visited relatives graves? Got family on both sides from WW1. Also on the Somme is the RWF memorial at Mametz. Well worth a visit. Mr W

This year is the earliest remembrance Sunday can be....

Just turn up on Sunday, smart clothes, and remember around 30 minutes is all it takes. Town council usually have the details for your area. But if your at the memorial for 11....

how come, with all the technological advances we have made over the years, we still have to pin our poppy on with a loose pin??

I can never do it properly and end up losing my poppies

i have also over the years bought pin badges and this year a bracelet but i will also always but a traditional paper poppy each year.

Men wear the medals on their left that they have earned and UN earned medals on right i.e. their father's ..

As women didn't fight years ago ... the idea is that anything they wear goes on left

There was a beautiful post on Facebook of a veteran spreading the word as before long there won't be many of his generation around and traditions won't be passed down xx

British Legion have officially said wear them how you like and actually said not at all fair play to then. Though why you wouldn't want to acknowledge the sacrifice people have made I don't know. After all it isn't political or war mongering it is about those who made a sacrifice to keep us or others safe. Mr W

Very soon we will have no WW2 veterans so it will be even more important that we pass the rememberance down to our kids.Yes we will have veterans of the fight against terrorism in the middle east and peace keeping duties in Europe and they may need the help that the Legion provides but the biggest conflicts need to be remembered because God help us if this happens again. Mr W

That's a real shame. The cadets where out door to door yesterday and the village had numerous sellers and most shops did as well. I suppose it depends on the amount of volunteers. Mr W

Black for the sense of loss experienced by those who didn't have their loved ones return after the war

Women wear poppies on their right hand side and the leaf should point at 11:11 for the time that WWI officially ended.

No offence meant but please stop spreading this bollox, it has started to spread on FaceAche and people are now getting abuse if their leaf does not conform and that is sooo wrong. People are now NOT wearing poppies rather than be confronted - how we got in this mess I'll never know, but please go to the Royal British Legion website to get the facts!

FACT ONE: ‘There is no right or wrong lapel, no right or wrong leaf position, no right or wrong time of day, no right or wrong start date. The best way to wear a poppy, is to wear it with pride.’

FACT TWO: The poppy is a symbol of Remembrance and hope, worn by millions of people and is RED because of the natural colour of field poppies.

FACT THREE: The poppy is NOT a symbol of death, is NOT a sign of support for war, is NOT a reflection of politics or religion and is most definitely NOT RED to reflect the colour of blood.
