Every week we see someone or other asking about socials why arent there more etc., etc., Am on about the big organised ones not ones in private homes. The Valleys Social had two tidy ones then third one cancelled "due to apathy~" now there is a Pontypridd Social not many ppl putting names down, Swansea/Newport been going years brill socials. Everyone loves them and so it should be. But why arent members interested in socials in the valleys . We do have a lot of members in the valleys i dont understand.

As one of the people trying to get interest 'in the Valleys', I've got to say that my opinion is that people are more interested in socials in locations where they can book hotel rooms close by and make a night of it.

Our venue for the Valleys social had no decent hotels nearby and there aren't many in the Pontypridd area.

Events held in the larger towns with big cheap hotels seem more popular.

Taxis are expensive and people want to go out and enjoy a drink ... and maybe have some late night fun too!

I'm going to do a bit of looking around for a venue that may be more popular. .... but would be interested in other thoughts on this topic.

I may go for another when I'm less busy!

Unfortunately also, the Pontypridd social being advertised at present, is on the same date as a large private swingers party that has been organised locally .... 50 people have booked and paid to go to it. These clashes can't be helped sometimes.

For us, a social in ponty would be tempting but we try and keep this separate to our real life and it may be a bit close to home.

We'd be more likely to see people we knew etc.

That is the element of discretion and trust in the community. Remember if they have seen you there, couldn't it be the same vice versa?

Lol .... there are very close communities in the Valleys. But the swinging community is quite close too .. so loyalty and discretion should abound in theory.

Also, when I used to work in RCT Council we used to laugh that the Cynon valley was abroad for people from the Rhondda! So if a social is in one valley it might mean people from there won't go, but people from other valleys might.

We're a funny lot!

Maybe, just maybe there is a saturation point!

Socials are good but playing is better

Some use fab as their social life, some use it to have recreational sex (Swinging).

The former usually seem to be able to make socials but cannot get sitter for meets or work gets in the way etc.

"So where is the private party on the same night as pontypridd social haven't seen anything "

That's what I meant about sometimes clashes are unavoidable. It's a private party by invite, hence it wasn't put on the forum.

It's getting near to the festive season so finding a date when there isn't loads of other things going on will be difficult.

That's why I think I'll wait til it all calms down in the new year before attempting to arrange anything again.

How do you arrange playtime when nearly every week there's a social.

For a social maybe go to your local pub.these have been a great way to meet people. You will find quite a few.

But you do have off the top of my head

30th Oct jades party

31st oct neath social

6th nov singles social

20th and 21st nov club invasions

5th Dec newport social

In between daytime socials and private partys and other events not every one can afford to do all of the socials and find time for play meets

People have options.........if they so want to attend socials, private parties, clubs or discreet meets then so be it.

Personally, I do find there are too many socials and being on low income I can't always attend these whereas party invites are generally free and always welcome if I can get to them

My Ice Castle! South Wales

Newport and Swansea social are usually every 8 weeks sometimes more than that. The other social then slot between. Daytime ones started for the people who couldn't always make evening events.

You don't have to attend these if you don't want to. If there weren't any people would moan then.

Sorry guys been away for a while. I agree that couples are likely to want to use the same discretion as us and most single men would be the same. Sadly not all single men would. I've overheard two blokes talking in the gym and one was laughing and talking about fab to the other. He was even explaining where the single female he met lived.

I know it's unlikely but it does scare us.

I had a message last night from a guy who said he had joined just to have a look at my pics after guys in the pub were talking about me. I've not met anyone in the village I live in though.

It proves that some people definitely aren't respectful of people's privacy

Yeah exactly. It's not something that you want to be common knowledge. Unfortunately, the minority do ruin it for the majority.

So where did u get that info from?

I can assure you as you already know I run the singles social and I for one don't even look at profiles when people ask to be added.

It isn't for me to dictate who goes and who doesn't go.

Socials are for every one and im sure all organisers will say the same

organise a social yourself so that you can be 'number one'.

This post got heated quickly. ??

We attended the Newport social the other day and had a great time. In all fairness we really appreciate that people take the time to organise them. Everyone was lovely and we really enjoyed.

Been to a few in Cardiff and we had a good time too. They only asked that we had verifications to be able to attend and they were really friendly.
