"Haha I know the rules, I just find it boring, to much kicking, not enough tries, there's penalties given every 2 mins and they kick every time. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't tackle one of them, there huge " Not enough tries, have u seen many games then? It's better than overpaid actors prancing around for 90 mins trying to unsuccessfully put a ball in something that's 12x8 now that's boring

"Just so you all know, the claim that footballers are "fitter" because they cover more ground is mythical. "fitness" is a term too often misused. Correctly used it encompasses different forms of movement and abilities to form a general pattern of "fitness". What the OP describes is exclusively based on aerobic fitness, the ability to continuously run (or cycle/swim etc) at a generic pace. Whilst the statistics would suggest footballers in general cover more ground, rugby (union) players tend to call upon their aerobic fitness slightly less (a good back row player will cover nearly as much ground as your general football midfielder). What the OP has not realised is that anaerobic fitness, strength, flexibility and even under many discussions on a learned level, mentality. I think, considering the anaerobic effort in a tackle, ruck, maul, lineout and scrum and the strength it requires, coupled with a decent level of aerobic fitness, mental toughness, most in the sporting world agree that rugby (union) has "fitter" players. Rugby League in actual fact generally have "fitter" players again due to the increased mobility of their 'bigger' forward players. Wrestlers, judoka, martial artists, tennis players et al are all considered to have a better general fitness than football. In fact, some researchers argue a 14 year old girl in a leotard lands higher on the "fitness" level than a pro footballer. So, in short, you are wrong. If your original post was to debate the "better" sport then my opinion is rugby union, rugby league, then football (listing team ball sports only). If you wanted to suggest footballers are fitter, please consider that debate null, void and incredibly incorrect. As for how I know, well phd's, an international career as both athlete, coach and sport scientist and having read more on the subject than most on the planet would suggest. Finally for the ladies: Yes I do have the body of an athlete and Im not talking darts..." What he said Nothing wrong with darts mind

Finally for the ladies: Yes I do have the body of an athlete and Im not talking darts..." For starters my first post mearly suggested that football was batter, the fitness comment was later and basically said to get a reaction from someone like yourself. For me football is more exciting, it's quicker fact, there's less stoppages. And my main argument was that there's more skill involved in football, you learn to throw and catch as a toddler, to pass the ball the length of a pitch and to bring it down over your shoulder whilst on the run is a skill no rugby player could ever have. There's no such thing as a penalty try in football, you might get a penalty but you have to score it, there's silly rules in rugby that must frustrate most people. And that's just my opinion, no ph'd necessary. When did you graduate from up your own ass school?

Rant over " Football!lmao...what a shit game made even shitter by the pussies who play the game.can anyone else remember when football used to be a physical sport where people made contact, and rode tackles?now all you need to do is look at one of the over paid pussies, and they dive through the air,and cry,and roll like little pussies.football lost its soul when division one became the premierbagofshite.i cant watch it anymore.it winds me up as soon as the fist dive comes in.They are a pathetic breed of athlete that have long forgotten what honesty, and integrity are

"Anyone who has played both sports for any considerable time wouldn't disrespect either sport by claiming one is better than the other or requires more skill or that one needs to be fitter to play one more than the other. It's pretty much apples and oranges, rugby depends solely on the whole teams performance where as a game of football can be turned on its head by one moment from one player !! As for fitness I used to play scrum half, wing or full back I wouldn't fancy either now at 35 the same as I wouldn't much fancy 90 minutes on the wing playing football. As for football being for pussy in 10 years playing rugby I never saw one broken bone in football I've seen several broken legs so you make your mind up which is the more dangerous sport, and also the whole diving thing that's down to pathetic health and safety people who have made the game a joke I don't blame the players for taking advantage of the rules that they have to play by especially when there is so much money on the line!!! Descent will come in rugby one day I'm sure of it, u see the players arguing with the referee now and asking for opposition players to be yellow carded and asking more and more questions of the referees decisions. It's a pointless debate they're both great sports with pros and cons if u don't like one or the other don't watch lol" Thank you, that's completely what I think, I only started this as a thread because the rugby World Cup was on. I don't mind either but I play football and am to much of a woss to play rugby, but I have broken my leg playing footie
