A lot of people think that they are going to have the perfect body in a month, it never happens and they get disheartened. Set yourself small, but achievable, goals...find a trainer that others recommend and listen to their advice. Lastly break it up to start with, a little cardio, light weights, classes, and don't forget to ogle the guys. Its meant to be fun so enjoy it...

Just do weights. And once or twice a week do a fast paced class! It's hard work and dedication, but it will pay off eventually xxx

Find a reliable gym partner who shares the same goals as you is probably the best motivator, as you can bounce off eachother and push eachother harder.

vary your training across weights, cardio and exercise classes, if you're doing the same thing every day your body will adapt and it won't be as effective. Aim to constantly shock your system.

Lastly but most importantly, make sure your diet has the right balance of macro nutrients to support your goals and you're eating small meals often to get your metabolism ticking constantly, as opposed to under eating and your body harvesting and storing nutrients instead of burning them through excersise.

This, at least do the big 3(deadlift, squat and bench), and try HIIT instead of steady state cardio, bit less boring then endless trudging ona treadmill/eliptical

looking at doing a high impact class which will not only improve overall fitness but engage your mind with the routines you have to learn.

A Class is probably the best way to go to begin. Just turning up and running on a treadmill would bore the shit out of me.

Personally cross fit is very good, some people take it a little bit too far though, treat it like a religion.

I usually do my own cross fit work outs but I have a private gym, as well as rugby that's enough for me.

Also another real good work out is yoga. That has done me a world of good with training related injuries since I hit the dreaded 30.

I could easily do you a great exercise program but you really would have to have someone showing you exactly what to do. So many people in the gym have no idea what they are doing in the weights room.

Pic up the weights and leave the cardio, weights burn fat quicker and show results faster. Results are the beginning of the motivation in the gym. Also the hormone release from weight training and the effect on the nervous system is a very addictive feeling! It's like sex... And weights will not make a woman look like a guy, it's not possible unless you are on steroids.

I'd love to start weights but I'm too scared to go on my own and look like a right twat!

Nope, was supposed to be trained up by a super gymfit mate but he moved away before we had a chance. Need to get on it though, my mate went from a size 18 to a 6. Amazing inspiration

I've found the best thing is to educate yourself about HIIT. Download MFP to track food and exercise and set realistic goals.

I've lost around 11% body fat this year. Gone from an 18 to a 14 so far. Love the thrill of getting stronger.

Easy to start at home. Cheap dumbbell set and YouTube videos. Cut back on carbs, look up low Gi carbs and stick to them, up your protein and cut the sugars, and plenty of good fats. Pallio style diet for reference. Use acai berry and green tea to help lose the fat too.

I could run you through a class in which you burn more than a normal gym session.

And I am not talking about sex either before any of you go there.

Pffftt. I don't go there to burn calories but build muscles.

I have very toned and defined legs a great backside and support the weight of 13 stone with one arm all through this exercise.

The only reason I am not ripped is I love food too much.

Also find a decent BMR/TDEE calculator to work out what you need to eat to have enough energy to do the exercise and still lose weight.

I think a lot of people give up because they cut calories too hard... plus you can put your body into starvation mode if you go toofar below your base metabolic rate for too long a period; it'll prioritise fat storage over muscle building because it doesnt know when the next energy is incoming
