I was born in 1955 and I have been a part of a lucky generation. Because Harold Wilson stood up to US pressure we didn't enter the Vietnam war so I wasn't conscripted like my American contemporaries. I had a choice of jobs when I left school, all with job security and a pension. I could buy my first home at the age of 25. I would not want to be a teenager today.

Im just grateful that 70 years ago the war ended and we do live in a free country. so many mothers lost sons wifes lost husbands children lost fathers. we remember the later wars but we should give thanks to the soldiers who won the second world war and we didnt end up in a gestapo run country. lol
