Any mechanics able to do a legal report for a car that was purchased with faults?

Genuine documents and assessment required.

Did you purchase the car privately or from a garage and what is that nature of your problems with the vehicle ?. How old is the car ?.

We bought a car that turned out to be a death trap with what must have been a dodgy mot. We rang vosa and they arranged to come out to our house and inspect the car and it was free. We bought the car privately so they came about the dodgy mot.

That's interesting.

The car was bought from a garage and it's just been one thing after another and yesterday the turbo blew.

It's my brothers first car and I feel so bad for him, he really busts a gut to get the car and the car is a heap of shit ever since he drove it off the forecourt.

The garage he bought it from become idiots when you call and complain and put it down to his driving... I don't think it's even possible to blow a turbo, injector unit, 2 wheel barings, require new brakes, fake service stamp in the book and countless other small bits after covering a few thousand long distance miles.

Well if bought from a garage I would go to Trading Standards. Any item purchased has to be fit for purpose for a certain amount of time not just the minute you bought it. Ie it can't fall apart the minute you leave the forecourt with it. So I would certainly contact them first and report the garage if the garage are not being helpful. Obviously would depend how long he's had the car I should think. But vosa would be worth contacting as well. They came an accessed our one for free.

To be fair other than the injector unit, it will be hard to prove the other faults aren't from bad driving. Not doubting him at all, ourselves and family members have been in a similar situation and it sucks ass! Good luck!

Oh the problems have been since day one, it's been back to their garage within the first few days of ownership and they had it for a week.

He's had the car two months and it's just one thing after another with it.

Trading standards were contacted before, after the owner of the garage refused to tell my brother where the car was when he was 'fixing it' for him, that and the service The one that never happened as everything was checked when we took it straight to an independent garage and they said simply it hadn't been serviced he'd just stamped the book.

All he wants is the car fixed and fit for the road - that or his money back, if it was an old banger I'd say he should cut his loses but paying nearly £4k cash I'd expect at least a 12 month trouble free motoring period.
