Hoedown 2015 ??

Will there be any organised events in 2015 like the hoedown in 2014 ?

We will be discussing this shortly with other members of the team.

My own view is that it's a lot of work, stress and flak, with a lot of sniping going on from people who won't say anything publicly but slag us off in private.

It takes up a great deal of my time, (at a rough guess about 600 hours personally) and this is the same for the other members of the team.

Then trying to balance the budget, (£4,500 of other peoples money!) whilst also trying to keep the price down, (compare prices, £60 for a cpl for our event, compared to Swingfields £160) and struggling to get people to pay, isn't conducive to keeping the old blood pressure down lol!

We failed to break even on the first year, and only just managed it this year, so we have also failed in one of our objectives, which was to donate any surplus to charity.

Whilst the end result is a great event, supported by lots of great people, you do tend to wonder if it was all worth it.

Seeing all the people turn up, have fun and leave with hangovers is a great reward, but the residual ill feeling from certain elements can be a little annoying lol.

This year's hoedown was an amazing weekend but I totally understand what it takes to organise the event. You did such a fantastic job regardless of what anyone says the whole team!

I will say that the most memorable moment that I've had on fab has to be the ball I was unable to attend the hoedown which was a shame !! I will never forget the ball for so many reasons

I can not thank all those involved enough !!! For that experience and their efforts in putting together THE most amazing event

Anyone who thinks otherwise should try it as I don't believe it could have gone any better

I will always be grateful to them for that experience but fully understand if they don't do it again although I will miss it and those who have been and those who haven't will also miss out

But the point here is that firstly events sniping at each other really don't help nurture overall support and we all need to get behind these sort of events and out those who are vindictive. Im sure if you increased the price by £20-£30 it wouldn't reduce numbers, you could make some profit AND support charity and both events could unite and promote each other ? Its not about price but value otherwise we would all drive Korean cars and visit the soup kitchen .....???

It's the people that make these events.....

u could b sat in a field with nothing 2 do or a field full of entertainment but if u haven't the support and the people all events are a wash out

Maybe private invites to such events would help make people feel more secure about going. Just thinking of the amount that dropped out due to big mouths last year.

Although even then word would probably get out eventually by accident or not. Just damage limitation I suppose.

We missed the masked ball but had a bloody good time at the hoedown anyway. Well done again guys.

Last hoedown was our first real introduction to the scene properly and we had an absolute blast. We met loads of lovely people who all made us feel very welcome. The food was amazing, the entertainment was buzzing and the whole weekend was in our opinion a huge success and we enjoyed it very much.we would definately go again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it to everyone. We are gutted to hear there won't be another one but understand all the hard work and stress involved for all the organisers. Maybe someone else will take the reins if there was enough interest? Certainly hope so, and ifthey do please pput our names down as a ddefinately x

Having been to the ball ... but helped out with catering and tent erection lol for the hoedown didnt attend for personal reasons ... the effort and time the team puts in is unbeliveable ... n mopping marts brow is a pain lol xx
